Me looking at my hair like OMG it’s time to do something with this mop! Been putting it up in a big messy bun way too often these days. It was time for a change!
You know those days you get out of the shower, dry your hair and it’s just meh? Well, that’s been me lately. I’ve gone a solid 14 weeks without a haircut which in my world, is unheard of. With all the heat I put on it, my hair has been feeling dull and damaged. You may even remember my at home DIY hair mask I tried which was definitely a great quick fix and one I’ve been implementing into my routine. It hydrated my hair for a few days and made it feel super shiny. But for something that I can do in the shower every time I wash my hair, I turned to Pantene. I took their 14 Day #greathairday Challenge and am excited to report back to you. And of course, it’s good news!
Before I started the challenge I first headed to Pantene’s Hair Advisor to take a quick quiz and find out which collection I needed. Since my hair has been treated and I’ve noticed it’s getting more frizzy and dry, I was advised to try the Pantene Repair & Protect Collection. The first day I used the Pantene Repair & Protect Shampoo and Conditioner, I noticed my hair was instantly shinier, easy to detangle and just felt refreshed. So much so, that even my followers on Instagram noticed it in my Stories. Yes, it was that obvious! Did I mention it also made my hair smell AMAZING? It did!
After just a week, my hair definitely felt silkier. And I actually noticed I could go longer between washes. My balayage color was also looking refreshed and prettier than ever. After the two full weeks of using Pantene Repair & Protect Collection, I could see a significant difference in how shiny my hair ways and minimal flyaways. We still have so much humidity here in the south and my hair usually reacts miserably to it. This shampoo and conditioner have helped fight against that as well which has been great! The Pantene Repair & Protect shampoo features Pantene’s first-ever, clinically-tested anti-oxidant damage-blocking technology (EDDS) which targets, captures and helps reduce copper build-up on hair to prevent oxidative damage. All good things to help with stronger healthier hair. After shampooing, the conditioner provides an added layer of protection by smoothing the hair cuticle and reinforcing the hair’s outer layer.
Want stronger, healthier hair? Me too. And with the help of a great collection in the shower, and maybe a mask now and again you can have it too. Plus, check out my 5 tips to stronger healthier hair that you may not realize you might be guilty of!
5 Tips To Stronger, Healthier Hair
Don’t Brush Your Wet Hair
Hair is at its absolute weakest when it’s wet, so don’t you dare take a big brush to it. Instead, use a wide tooth comb. Start at the bottom of your locks and work your way up.
Reduce Your Heat & Try No Heat Days
We all use heat styling tools like curling irons and straighteners. If yours has a temperature gauge (which I encourage using ones that do) try reducing the temperature. Too much heat can actually melt the proteins on your hair. By reducing the temperature, you can get a great style without damaging your locks for healthier hair. Test out where that temperature may be as I’m confident you can try a lower temp for a great style. Also, try no heat days. Instead of drying with a hair dryer, try air drying it. Add in some braids for a little texture and let it dry further. The less heat, the better!
Protect Your Hair Against UV Damage
Just like your skin needs SPF to protect it from UV damage, so does your hair. UV exposure can break down the vital proteins in your hair so be sure to wear a hat in the sun if you can. The good news, Pantene Repair & Protect Collection has anti-oxidants to help fight against UV damage which is another plus to using this system!
Don’t Over Rinse Your Conditioner
Shampooing takes out the dirt and oil from your hair and in order to replenish it back with good oil, you need to condition. However, many of us are over rinsing our conditioner out! If your hair squeaks when you brush it out when it’s wet or it’s hard to detangle, you may be over-rinsing. According to Pantene, try to rinse for just 30 seconds using your fingers to work water through the hair.
Protect Your Hair When You Sleep
Swap out your cotton pillowcase for a 100% silk one. Not only will your hair thank you but so will your skin. Tossing and turning in the night can cause frizz and stress on your locks so opt for a silk pillowcase that won’t damage your hair. Also, take out that hair tie! If you have to put your hair up use a fabric scrunchie and keep it loose!
