Today begins the madness of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! I’ll be real honest here guys, I was not thrilled with much of the selection this year. For the first time ever, I barely walked out of the store with much. It seemed everything I liked, I had something similar (no wonder I liked it!). And then the rest was just, um how do I put it, ugly.
PS If you’re not familiar with the sale, it’s a pre-fall sale event of new products, and or exclusive colors that go on sale for 3.5 weeks. Items are up to 33% off during that time and then go back up to full price on August 6th. If you have a Nordstrom card, you can get early access and start shopping today. It opens to everyone on July 20th if you don’t have a card.
Back to shopping. I did go home with a few new things like today’s printed wrap dress from Madewell that I do love. This dress is on sale for under $100 and will go back up to $148 on August 6th. In addition, I grabbed a few essentials that I typically pick up like these Nordstrom jammies (got them in black and baby blue)new sneakers and a little something from WAYF, a brand you have seen me wear often. Oh, and how could I forget, these stunning earrings you may have seen on my Instagram Stories yesterday. Possibly my favorite thing I bought.
This dress though is just so perfect. It’s under $100 and fits true to size. I’m wearing a size 4 for reference. It’s so easy to dress this piece up and down. So I figured I’d just show ya! One of my favorite ways to dress down anything is with chucks and a denim jacket. It works 90% of the time and clearly works with this pretty rusty orange number. But I wanted to share a simple way to dress this up with nude sandals and a pretty clutch. Great for date night, drinks with friends, or even to a wedding.
Now back to the sale. If you are looking to shop the big event, I recommend thinking about what sort of fall essentials you need. Boots or coats are a great value during the sale. Sweaters like this rib one, and cardigans are also a great buy right now. I know it’s hard to bring yourself to think about sweaters in July, but it’s worth it. Fun Nordstrom fact (at least it was true when I worked there in college) they crank up the AC so you don’t die trying all the fall stuff on.
Second, I always suggest stocking up on everyday essentials. Socks, workout gear, running shoes, underwear and of course cosmetics. All those sorts of things are a great deal right now and if you know you like them, might as well get it while it’s on sale. These socks are only discounted during the Anniversary Sale. And my go-to Spanx, same deal.
