My sister and I have been talking about going on a beach vacation for months, possibly years. Finally we found the time and got to planning a little getaway together (with the mutts of course….). We headed to Carillon Beach together which was so adorable. It’s right next to Panama City – and for those who told me PCB was better than it was 10 years ago, we must’ve headed to the wrong parts. It still screamed high school spring break to me. It was great to getaway for a few days, lay on the beach, bring the dogs to the beach (this was NOT relaxing but definitely fun to witness) and spend a little time together with no distractions.
We decided one morning to go left instead of right out of the hotel to explore and boy were we excited what we discovered. Alys Beach. People, I’m moving in! Okay okay okay, I’ll need to win the lottery to move into this place where the houses are in the millions and rent in the thousands per night. But we did stop in to Caliza for happy hour cocktails and some light bites. It felt like what I imagine Greece looks like with white stucco walls, clean lines and colorful doors. We grabbed a few cocktails and light bites to enjoy. The deviled eggs were ridiculously good and the views were serene. Just a half mile up from here is also Rosemary Beach, another great little town full of restaurants and shops. So glad we turned left. If you’re heading to the panhandle for a little R&R definitely check both of these areas out. It feels like you stepped into a different country and you’ll forget you were ever in Florida.
