Autumn is truly the season of fashion. To welcome the new season, we overhaul our wardrobe, trade in our sandals for boots, shorts for pants, and tees for sweaters. Not only do the color palettes change, but so do the textures. I don’t think I know any fashion lover who doesn’t embrace fall fashion with open arms. And while I was younger I would flip through the thick magazine fall issues daydreaming about boots and suede and knits, it’s now all turned to browsing through blogs, Pinterest and Instagram.
So let today’s post be your new fall issue that just arrived in your mailbox that you can’t wait to flip through. Here are my favorite autumn style ideas for 2022.
25 Autumn Style Ideas

The Fall Uniform
Starting things out with what I’m going to call my fall uniform. Straight leg jeans, great blazer, a simple tee and great boots. These pieces will take you into fall so you can mix and match them with other closet favorites.

The Casual Fall Uniform
An oversized blazer over a hoodie, leggings and a cool chunky trainer (dad sneaker, Madewell trainer, or the go-to New Balance lately all work) will 100% be my casual uniform. The key here is getting a good oversized and comfortable blazer that you can layer over thicker pieces.

Mixing Black And Brown
I’ve got everything in this outfit so I will be recreating it asap. Loving the mix of black and brown. And yes, you can 100% mix them! Check out this post to see more black and brown outfit ideas.

Sweater Dresses And Knee High Boots
But not the way we used to wear them. No riding boots, no sweater dresses from 2012. Instead, this vibe is it. A sexy knee high boot, a sweater vest layered over a long white poplin. This is such a chic and updated way to try the sweater dress and boot combo.

Midi Skirts And Boots
If you’re like me and struggle finding good fall dresses, this is a good alternative. Midi skirt with a great shirt and knee high boots gives you the same vibe. I love this high slit in the skirt and the plaid print for fall.

Light Colored Oversized Blazers
For some reason, I lean into dark colored blazers like blacks, greys, dark plaids, all of it. Instead, for fall, I want to lighten things up and try lighter colored blazers with jeans and sneakers.

Off White Denim With Neutrals
Cream or off white denim is perfect for autumn. I love this for early fall looks. The white sandal and the tan blazer play together for a perfect fall look.

Leather Pants
This outfit is simply autumn perfection. From the color palette to the fabrics and fit, it is so good. Leather pants are going to be huge for fall. Loving this olive brown shade and having it paired with neutral pieces.

Monochrome In Cream And Sweater Vests
I stumbled onto this photo and had to recreate it immediately. You can see that here. Sweater vests, or shells, are BIG for fall. And I’m loving it because I am always so hot in a sweater. I also love the monochromatic cream look with pops of black.

Statement Cropped Jacket
This look would be a great date night outfit. A cropped statement jacket paired with straight leg denim and your fancy heels, perfect take on the going out top.

Western Inspired Accessories
We’re seeing tons of western inspired accessories this season. From belts, to fringe, to cowboy boots. I’m here for it. And this is exactly how I’d style it to avoid feeling like I’m on a dude ranch. Pair it with a classic blazer for just a touch of western flair.

Matching Knit Sets
While this past summer we had all the matching button-down and short sets, fall will be no different. But as always, we’re updating the fabric for the season. Knit sets are going to be big and they’re the perfect loungewear vibe that feels put together.

Plaid Pants
A trend I am 100% jumping on this fall is the plaid pant trend. Whether you go classic plaids, checkered whatever, it’s here for fall. They’re great to dress up or down and you know I’ll be dressing mine down. I love a cropped slightly looser straight leg fit for this trend.
Sock Booties
Many of our old ankle booties are just not working with the new denim fits. So sock booties are likely your answer to them. Once you find a pair you love, you’ll see how they transform your straight leg denim!

Play With Shirt Dresses
A shirtdress is truly a closet staple and this one is a fun take on it. A pretty olive color, oversized fit and great accessories. Fall dresses always disappoint me, but a shirtdress seems to do the trick.

Oversized Brown Blazer And Jeans
Another perfect look with denim and a blazer. I love this for feeling put together but not having too much to fuss with. This blazer is a stunner and love the longer length of it.
Cropped Sweaters
With all the high rise denim, a cropped sweater is a trend I’m jumping on. I tend to feel so sloppy and bigger than I am when I style a big sweater. So cropped is the way to go for me personally. Also key that this is great for fall, maybe not so much for winter.

Chunky Striped Sweaters
These bold striped sweaters are everywhere. Chunky pullovers, half zips, and more, they are the it sweater. Pair with leggings, trousers or denim, they’re a great option that feels very minimal yet stylish at the same time. And yes, throwing it over your shoulders works too. Loving this perfect pre-fall in-between weather outfit.

Oversized Black Blazer
If you buy one thing for fall I think it may need to be a good oversized blazer. Black is classic and can go with so much. I love this dressed down look with denim and chucks.

The Quilted Jacket
Seeing this style of jacket everywhere and it’s going to be a popular one for fall. The quilted pattern and lots of color options make it an easy topper for outfits. From casual in leggings to paired with denim and boots.

Cropped Jeans, Converse And A Coat
For those cooler days, this coat, wide leg crop jean and high top Converse combo is Parisian casual to perfection.

Dad Sneaker Outfits
Dad sneakers are IT for fall and they’re really just the best when you need a chunky shoe to finish off a look. For early fall looks, biker shorts, a cropped top and a blazer with dad sneakers are cool and effortless.

Long Trench Coats With Sneakers
I think it might be time to say goodbye to the shorter trench coat. All about the long trench coat with (yes skinny jeans that’s fine!) a sweater and simple clean white sneakers is so chic and easy.

Casual Outfits In Trousers
I think trousers are here to stay for a while. And dressing them down is the key to making them feel cool and not like you just got off of work. Pairing with dad sneakers, graphic tees and casual layering pieces is the way to go.

Wide Leg Outfits
No matter if it’s denim or a trouser style, wide leg is it. This look is great for pre-fall to wear out and about or even to the office. The low block heel slide makes this look great for those in-between weather moments. Wear a bootie once it gets cooler.
