I’ve had a long-standing crush on AYR. On Instagram, I’ve been following this brand AYR for oh I dunno, years. I’m not sure why I never tried their pieces. I think I just needed to be influenced. Shocker. Maybe I should be doing the influencing?? I saw a few friends and influencers I follow more recently finally buy and style these items. So here we are. I’ve been #influenced. And hopefully, I can influence you as well because I am SOLD on this brand. It’s everything!
AYR Deep End Review + Sizing
I finally bought myself my first ever AYR shirt. I went with The Deep End style which is their classic slightly oversized striped shirt. And I love the description of the shirt on their site. It says, and I quote, “this shirt was a banker on Wall Street, until she cashed out and started a new career as a florist on Nantucket. Spends her days lounging on weather-worn furniture, drinking expensive wine and smelling like fresh hydrangea.” If that isn’t life goals, I don’t know what the hell is. And I can confirm, this shirt makes you feel like that…even if you’re walking around downtown Atlanta.
The Deep End shirt comes in tons of colors from this fun macaroni and cheese color (yes that’s the name of it!) to classic shades of blues, sage and more. You can also pair it with their matching shorts, called the Staycation Shorts. I have to say, the shorts are amazing. But I just didn’t love a full-on macaroni and cheese yellow get-up. I would 100% buy a blue or more muted shade for my personal style. But the shorts are fantastic and a great addition to the shirt.
For sizing, I went with my usual size small and it’s perfectly oversized. It’s a bit long which is nice to wear over skinny ripped jeans (similar to this vibe) or tuck it into jeans like I’ve done today.
But let me be honest here…
The tucking situation is a tad tricky. I feel like it’s hit or miss depending on the rise of your pants. This look *sorta* works. But I actually think I prefer this shirt where only one side is tucked in. I did this recently and really loved how effortless yet cool it felt. I unbuttoned most of the shirt and tucked in the side closest to my body (the side with the buttons, duh) and it just felt cool! And I really liked the look. Would be great with white denim, I just bought these and they’d be great. Or with shorts too. I’d even wear this as a little coverup to the pool. Wear it open or a few buttons, and you’re good to go.
Shop The Deep End Shirt
I knew nothing about this brand. I didn’t even know what AYR stood for. It stands for “all year round”. Which is perfection. These pieces are truly classics you can wear all year round. Shocker. It was founded in 2016 by a few women, one is notoriously known as Granny. She’s an actual grandmother and clearly a total badass. They have a very limited collection but I kind of appreciate that. I like when a brand knows what they do best and AYR truly makes really great classics that you’d wear in Nantucket sipping on rosé (the dream). I imagine Ina Garten would wear one of these shirts when walking through her garden pruning some rosemary back to then use in a roast chicken for Jeffrey. You can see it can’t you?
In addition to The Deep End button down shirts, they also have the adorable French Fry tee which is a striped crew. Comes in tons of colors as well. It’s a bit more preppy for me but a good closet staple. I personally see myself more in their Sno Cone tee which is a boxy striped crew. Great to tuck into some jeans. And for denim, they do have a few styles. I have yet to try them but would love to. Have heard really great things.
Where To Buy AYR
You can shop directly on AYR’s website and there’s free shipping (I believe on all orders) and free returns. I really appreciate when stores do this especially when you can’t shop in-person. I like to always buy two sizes of things when I’m unsure and it’s a relief knowing I won’t be charged to make sure I get the best fit. I’ve also seen AYR on Shopbop which is where I bought this shirt today. Since Shopbop has different perks and sales, this can be a good place to buy pieces as well. Their selection si much more limited though and mostly just their striped basics. No dresses, or skirts or denim.
