Feeling more put together instantly is what I like to call, an indigo day. It’s the whole motto behind this entire blog. I truly believe that feeling a little more put-together does not have to be complicated or hard. And what you do may make you feel better, may not work for someone else and vice versa. These little tips and hacks can be a part of your beauty routine, your home, how you get dressed and everything in between. Some of these are tips that I personally swear by, and some are from the Indigoers of this community.
As part of my 5 week series of my best tips, this week is all about my go-to beauty tips and tricks, the little things that make me feel much more put together or make my life a little easier when it comes to all things beauty.
Beauty Tips To Feel More Put Together
Have A Range Of Makeup Routines
I have a handful of easy makeup routines I can choose from depending on my day. From no makeup to full glam, I have a variation of my beauty routine for everything in between. From just concealer and mascara, to tinted moisturizer and blush, to a full face. I have a few things I can choose from! I find that knowing what each routine consists of and knowing what to grab in my makeup drawer just makes it easier to accomplish and more likely to do it.
Having just a bit of makeup on can make me feel more put together and like I’m not a total slob and end up on the couch all day. Something about putting on a bit of makeup means I’m more likely to put clothes on and more likely to be productive. It’s a domino effect. But that makeup routine doesn’t need to be a full face. I have this everyday makeup tutorial for get-togethers, dinners and the like. For just a little something I have my more minimal routine for just heading to the store, or knowing I have to be on a Zoom call. Which is basically a blurring primer, concealer, mascara, little cream contour and maybe brows if I’m feeling up to it. I have a handful of makeup routines I know and swear by depending on how much or how little I want to wear.
Find A Lipstick You Love
There is nothing quite like swiping on my favorite red lipstick before heading out the door. I can have just concealer and mascara on and feel like a million bucks. I love a good red, but you may prefer a pink or mauve. Whatever that lipstick is, find it, love it, have it ready for those days you’re feeling not your best. Also, if you’re not big into lipstick or don’t want to fuss with liners and making sure your lipstick stays put, these are my favorite no-smudge lipsticks that make wearing lipstick stress-free!

Use A Waschloth To Wash Your Face
I’d like to thank my aesthetician Ryan for this one. He couldn’t believe that I wasn’t using a washcloth and instead was just splashing water on my face to get off my face cleanser. Using a washcloth not only gets you a much better cleanse (you’d be shocked to see how much makeup is still left over) and it doesn’t make an entire wet mess on your countertops. I keep a handful of washcloths in my vanity just to wash my face with. I love the Weezie’s towels but a muslin cloth is also great.
Know How To Do An At Home Facial
Doing a face mask while sitting on the couch watching TV is great and all. But are you really maximizing your time and your expensive mask? By knowing how to do a good at home facial, you’ll see better results and make the most of your expensive skincare. It all starts with a good double cleanse and exfoliation. Read all my tips to a good at home facial here and my DIY mask recipe here.
Do Your Skincare Routine Early
There is no reason to wait until right before bedtime to do your skincare routine. If you’re in for the night, do your multi-step skincare routine so you get it done and do every step. I even vote for doing it as soon as you get home from work. Sitting at home in comfortable clothes and a full face of makeup is literally my worst nightmare. I despise the feeling!

Have A Hair Go-To
Maybe it’s a headband you love to wear, or a pearl clip, or just a slicked-backed bun. Find a handful of hair go-tos you can count on that don’t overwhelm you. I’m super comfortable doing my beach waves or flat iron waves so this is usually my go-to. And having a bandana and headband on hand for days I want a little something extra is always convenient and takes just jeans and a tee to a new level! And that is exactly what creating an indigo day is.
Tan In A Pinch
We’ve all been there. You need a quick tan before a wedding or event and you don’t want to deal with a spray tan or messy at home foams. My favorite way to feel like I’ve got a sun-kissed glow is with these Isle Of Paradise tanning drops. They’re foolproof and zero mess! And if you’re super short on time, this Vita Liberata body blur will give you the prettiest tan and glow instantly.
Master The At Home Manicure
For me, having my nails done makes me feel like I have my life together. The moment they start to chip I feel gross. So I have become a master at the home manicure. I can’t recommend enough learning how to do this at home. It not only saves you money, but allows you to always have your nails painted. Check out my tutorial here.
Brows And Lashes
To wake up already looking fairly put-together, getting your brows microbladed or lash extensions can make a big difference. They make you look done without doing a thing. I’ve personally tried laminating my brows which I was kind of into (it does require brushing your brows every morning). And I love to get my lashes lifted for an instant curl. Whether it’s microblading, tinting your brows and lashes, or doing the full on extensions, maintaining this can make a huge difference in not only your morning routine but how you feel about yourself too.
