Last summer I started to slowly transition a few beauty products over to Beautycounter. I have just loved their mission as a company and brand to get safer products into everyone’s hands. But the thing I love most about them is that they don’t sacrifice efficacy. We all want safer products, but a lot of the times that means just diluted formulas that don’t irritate your
Anti-aging can be safe and this overnight chemical peel is truly the answer to retinol, an ingredient they do not allow in their Dirty List. I’ll be the first one to say it though, I love retinol. It is safe to be used topically but a lot of people who have sensitive skin may not love it as it can cause sensitivity and redness. This means, many clean beauty brands keep it out. Plus, retinol users should always be extra careful with sun exposure. If you’re nervous about retinol, but want serious cellular turnover in a “clean” product, the Beautycounter Overnight Resurfacing Peel is the answer.
Beautycounter Overnight Resurfacing Peel Review
I’ve started to add more and more Beautycounter products to my shower and medicine cabinet. The resurfacing peel is one my friend had me convinced to add soon after signing up with Beautycounter. I’ve been using it around 3 times a week at bedtime. I wake up with less dullness to reveal brighter skin tone. It’s also helping to minimize my pores and fine lines. I have GIANT pores, so anything that claims to help with this, I’m all for. It also isn’t drying, which many anti-aging peels can be. If you’re super dry, you may want to add a moisturizer on after this is absorbed.
At only $72 for a bottle, and only need one pump for the entire face, this product is a powerhouse of anti-aging ingredients and benefits. This leave on peel has 15 botanically-derived acids that work together with resurfacing acids and soothing acids to create a bottle full of anti-aging goodness.
Ingredients
- Lactic Acid, Glycolic Acid
and Malic Acid – These all work to promote cellular turnover which will result in less dullness, and firmer skin and help to minimize pores and fine lines. It can also help with any dark spots you may have. Cellular turnover is important when you have anti-aging goals and want to reveal younger skin and improve your skin tone. Lactic acid stimulates cellular turnover and lactic acid improves skin texture. - Hyaluronic Acid – This ingredient helps to make skin more smooth, supple and plump. It helps to hydrate your skin as well which can
in turn, reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Hydrated skin is happy skin! - Essential Fatty Acids – This helps to soothe and nourish the skin.
- Phytic Acid – Another ingredient that exfoliates the top layer of skin and encourages cellular turnover
Salicylic Acid – Salicylic acid is also an exfoliant and an anti-acne agent. If you’re suffering from acne, I also will recommend this product as part of your nighttime routine as it can help clear up breakouts.
The Benefits
The Beautycounter Overnight Resurfacing Peel is designed to help hydrate your skin, promote cellular turnover, which in turn boosts elasticity, and firmness, and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It may also help reduce the appearance of dark spots and help to even skin tone. This type of anti-aging product is designed to refine and renew skin tone to reveal brighter and younger looking skin.
Sounds pretty great, right?
How to Use The Overnight Resurfacing Peel by Beautycounter
Any night time skin care routine should look a little something like this…PS you can also read my post on the 8 products everyone should have. These include my morning and nighttime essential products including masks and peels!
Step One
Double Cleanse & Tone
Double cleanse, this means getting off ALL the makeup and dirt with a one minute cleanse, then another one minute cleanse to help exfoliate and address your skin problems (dry, oily, anti-aging
Step Two
Anti-Aging
Once you’ve cleansed and toned, you can now apply your anti-aging products. You’ll only need one pump of this product (the website says 1-2, I just do one!) and apply a thin layer over your entire face. This isn’t a peel that you peel off, it’s instead in the world of chemical peels. It’s simply a serum-like consistency that gets applied to your face and neck and you just leave it.
Step Three
Moisturize
If you’re naturally dry, or this product dries you out at all (it really shouldn’t, but cellular turnover MAY cause some dryness) you can add on a moisturizer. But ONLY after the Beautycounter Overnight Resurfacing Peel has been absorbed into your skin. Roughly 3-5 minutes. But once it’s absorbed you can add on your nighttime moisturizer. I personally do not. I’m oily as can be and never need extra moisture, ever.
If you do need some extra moisture or oil to get you through the night or on the off days, you can try one of Beautycounter’s face oils. I wrote all about them here.
In the morning, you can just wash your face as normal. No need to “peel” anything off!
Does It Really Work?
To give you my honest opinion. I’d say yes. I feel like my skin hasn’t broken out much since I started using this product and also feels less dull and more radiant. As someone who has giant pores, I feel like I look at my pores less with absolute disappointment. I personally use the Beautycounter Overnight Resurfacing Peel 2-4 times a week and also use retinol the other nights that I remember to. I have also noticed my skin texture improving, glycolic acid improves skin texture and resurfaces skin to reveal younger and brighter skin.
Is Beautycounter Overnight Resurfacing Peel Pregnancy Safe?
Often women have to adjust their skincare routine when they become pregnant. But the Beautycounter Overnight Resurfacing Peel, as well as all Beautycounter products, are all pregnancy safe.
