As someone who works from home, I try to get out of the house whenever possible. Whether it’s just to step away to run an errand or two, or to really spend some time away from my desk to work elsewhere, it’s essential. I find it crucial to get out whenever possible as working from home, solo, can be isolating. I’ll be honest though, I find it hard to work away from my place since my desk is all set up nicely with a big monitor and keyboard. Also, my fridge is stocked and the coffee is free…. I definitely prefer that set up over a laptop at a coffee shop. But to me, it’s important to at least TRY to get out whenever possible. So I’ve been on the hunt for the best Atlanta coffee shops and have found several favorites.
Cathy and I try to meet up almost once a week at a coffee shop to get some work done for TBS which is nice too, but every once in a while I like to force myself to head out solo. It helps to switch up my surroundings and get the creative juices flowing a bit more. After visiting Chrome Yellow Trading a few weeks back, I was instantly inspired between the navy/charcoal building (hello future outfit backdrop) to the minimalist interior and absolutely delicious coffee to finally round up my favorite spots in ATL. So here are what I think are the best coffee shops in Atlanta. These are the 7 best Atlanta coffee shops to hang out at whether it’s for a good cup of coffee, croissant or to get work done. These are definitely a must visit.

1. Little Tart Bakery (multiple locations)
A lot of the coffee shops listed here source their baked goods from Little Tart Bakery. They’re just that damn good. They do have a stand-alone store in Krog Street Market so you can grab a coffee and pastry and set up your computer to work right there if you like. Then walk around to grab lunch or frosé at The Luminary (yes that’s a thing!). However, Octane, which is next up, has a big pop up in their Grant Park location.*Update, this place has recently closed but there’s a new coffee shop that took it’s place. Will report back and update!

2. Chrome Yellow Trading
The whole inspiration behind today’s post, Chrome Yellow Trading. A gem of a spot on Edgewood that is probably my number one favorite on this list. Recommended by a friend, this little coffee shop is a design dream. Oh and the coffee is hands down the best on this list too. The spot is also a store with local goods from stationary to clothing. It’s the closest thing to feeling like you’re in San Francisco or anywhere much cooler than what Atlanta usually is. This may be one of my favorite Atlanta coffee shops to be honest, don’t tell the others.

3. Star Provisions
Star Provisions has been one of my most favorite places in the city for years. It’s the closest thing to a European sandwich and bakery shop. Between the omelet baguette sandwich to

4. Octane (multiple locations)
Octane was probably one of the first non Starbucks coffee shop I ever visited to get work done. With now three locations, Buckhead, West Midtown and Grant Park, they’re definitely the most well known here. When I think of quintessential Atlanta coffee shops, this is it. They’ve got a good mix of baked goods and bites. The original one is in West Midtown and is my personal favorite of the three. Buckhead is definitely more modern and less authentic if you ask me. It’s located inside the Atlanta Tech Village, so it’s definitely more 9-5ers and less cool. Sorry Buckhead, you’re just not that cool…. The Grant Park location has a much larger baked good selection as there’s a Little Tart Bakeshop inside so you get all the options!
5. Brash Coffee (multiple locations)
This place gets on the list simply because it’s cool and unique. They transformed a shipping container into an airy, bright coffee shop. Not sure how the hell they did it, but it’s beautiful. If I ever had to live in a tiny home, I’d pick this container and add my bed and Pork. The space is small, so it can be tough to get a seat and work, but it’s still a great spot to grab a coffee and sweet treat.
I also love the Brash Coffee that’s inside the Atlanta History Center. It’s next to Souper Jenny’s which is a go to lunch spot for me in Buckhead. I like to grab lunch and work, or go early and grab a coffee and await hunger to strike!

6. Inman Perk
Inman Park continues to be my all time favorite neighborhood in Atlanta. This coffee shop is probably one of the most popular ones for folks to come and work. I mean 90% of the coffee shop are long tables with plugs to charge your computer. They have a variety of food and snacks and I usually grab a fruit and yogurt parfait along with a dirty chai latte. If you get tired of working, you can hop on over to the dozens of restaurants around there to grab lunch or dinner. It makes for a great afternoon of a little work and a little play.
