A few weeks ago I headed to my favorite Southern city, Charleston, to watch my friend Kristen of Living in Color Print get married. I decided to extend my stay a bit as who wouldn’t want to spend a few extra days in this charming city. I decided to switch things up a bit and stay at a brand new hotel that recently opened right off Market Street, The Spectator Hotel. This is hands down in my top 5 best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. And definitely, one of the best hotels in Charleston from its beautiful rooms, to unique amenities.
As I drove up to the hotel, I instantly noticed cute little bikes sitting outside with ‘Spectator’ on the baskets. I was charmed before I even walked in the door! As I made my way in, the lobby was full of bold colorful wallpaper, deep rich colors like navy and teals and lots of gold. Everywhere I turned was simply stunning. I loved that it felt small and boutique-like, with only 41 rooms, this quaint little hotel truly felt like a Charleston gem.
After I checked in I was handed a key and leather fob that gains you access to the elevator and rooms. As I walked in to the room, I was blown away by the size and combination of navy and gray (you guys, you know I love me some navy and gray from clothing to decor). The bathroom was the size of my bedroom at home. It had a HUGE soaking tub and a giant walk-in marble shower. The room was also packed with complimentary goodies like cheese straws and San Pellegrino sodas. Since I had just got in for the wedding, I desperately had to start getting ready and steam my dress. I asked the bellman who had brought my bags up if they had a steamer and she informed me that she was actually my room butler for the day and would be happy to take any garments down for steaming. Talk about service!
The room also had a large sunny sitting area that was perfect and cozy. I drank my morning coffee there while devouring their complimentary in room dining. Yes you read that right. Complimentary, continental breakfast, in-room dining. Now this is no toast and fruit situation you guys. This is biscuits, frittata, bruled grapefruits, yogurt parfaits and more. This was such a special treat for being included with the room and made mornings that much more indulgent.
If you follow along on Snapchat (mystylevita) I shared a few peeks into the hotel. You also saw the sweet night cap they send up to your room each night. A little chocolate cup filled with a sweet night cap. Such a fun and unique idea to finish off the night. If you prefer a full cocktail, head to The Bar in the lobby for a prohibition era inspired menu. The space feels like you’re in a beautiful study with bookshelves stocked to the brim with books and trinkets.
