I can’t deny that my leather jacket is one of my most worn, most loved items in my closet. I invested in this OAK leather jacket a few years back and it’s been a closet staple. It’s my go-to jacket for when I travel, when I want to dress up a pair of jeans and a tee, or add some edge to a feminine dress.
Moto leather jackets are such a great piece to have in your closet for a sophisticated yet edgy look. They’re also flattering on every body type and you can wear them starting from fall through spring. Plus, they’ll last you for years. I invested in my black leather jacket nearly 5 years ago and it’s still in great condition and still my most loved item in my closet.
Best Leather Moto Jacket For Women
Best Under $100 Leather Moto Jacket
If you want to dip your toes into this trend and not spend too much, this under $100 faux leather moto jacket is the way to go. I’ve seen it in person and it not only feels great but looks good too. The fit and details are exactly what I’d look for in a classic moto jacket. Plus, since it’s faux, it’s a whole lot less expensive. This jacket is under $100 and comes in a few colors.
Best Splurge Worthy Leather Moto Jacket
Since my OAK brand jacket is no longer in existence, I think the best replacement for a quality, splurge-worthy leather motorcycle jacket is from AllSaints. They come in quite a few style options depending on what vibe you’re going for. And lots of colors to choose from as well. The sizing on these can be a little crazy. I’m usually a size 4, but took an 8 in their jackets. Size up at least 1-2 sizes. They stretch and mold to your body after a few wears and run small as it is.
Best Suede Moto Jacket
My BLANK NYC moto jackets have been a closet staple. I bought this suede taupe-colored jacket several years ago during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. You can almost guarantee there will be one on sale during the big NSALE. Since then, I’ve bought this in a cornflower blue as well. They’re great fitting jackets, quality suede leather and feel so great. I love to pair this with dresses for fall, or with my favorite denim and a concert tee. I find a medium to be a better fit and it allows me to wear thicker sweaters underneath. It comes in several colors from great neutrals to even bold fun shades.
Best Vegan Faux Leather Moto Jacket
I love this faux leather moto jacket from Anthropologie. It looks like it has such a nice buttery soft texture to it. The BLANKNYC under $100 is also faux leather, but it definitely doesn’t look as lived in and relaxed as this one. Definitely more expensive, but you can clearly see the difference as to why. This has all the classic moto jacket elements too.
Best Classic Leather Moto Jacket
This AllSaints jacket is the perfect classic moto leather jacket. I love that it has the quilted leather on the shoulders, asymmetric front zip, chest pockets and zipper detailing. This is one that will last you a lifetime and never go out of style. Wear this to the office, to drinks with friends, or as your go-to travel jacket. A total classic!
Best Stand Collar Moto Jacket
A stand collar is a very classic style moto jacket. This is definitely a more sleek look. It’s a personal preference if you like a stand collar or the more common notched lapels that you see on all these other styles here. If you’re on the hunt for a stand collar, this one from Marc New York is beautiful. They make great quality leather jackets and you’ll be investing in a great jacket.
How To Care For Your Leather Jacket
After buying a very expensive leather jacket, I knew I needed to take better care of it than my faux one from Express I had since college. It took a few years before I realized it was time to condition my jacket. And ever since, it feels brand new.
Don’t wait years as I did. If you’re investing in one of the above quality true leather jackets, be sure to condition it and care for it the right way.
