I’ll never forget the first great bra I bought. It was a Chantelle bra and it just fit so perfectly. Felt great, made me feel good and made me look good. All the things you want a bra to be. But with all the work from home lately, I’ve finally handed in my go-to Chantelle bra for a handful of super comfortable and flattering non-underwire bras.
I’ve tried quite a few non-underwire bras. Or as I like to call them, my lazy bras. They’re great for lounging around in, perfect for travel days, and if you just don’t really want to wear an underwire. But I’ve actually found that many of these can work for just about every situation replacing my underwire on many occasions. Some of these have been highly recommended by friends with larger chests, too. So you’ll have confidence no matter if you’re an A cup or DD or beyond. And let’s be honest, underwire has no place in the crazy year that 2020 is.
The Best Non-Underwire Bras
These are the favorite bras that I’ve tried myself. Some were recommended by friends and even members of the Indigo Facebook Group. For sizing reference, I’m a 32 DD in most bras. I’ll be honest, I do not need a ton of support as I do have implants. But at 32DD, I still prefer support over none. But many of these bras were recommended by friends of mine who have larger chests than I do and need the support. So no matter which one you choose here you’ll be supported as we all should be in 2020.
SKIMS Fits Everyday Scoop Neck Bralette
Hands down my #1 favorite in today’s list. I love this bra for a few reasons. First, the fabric feels almost like the lululemon Align leggings. Which if you’ve never experienced that fabric, you’re missing out. With this fabric, it’s actually supportive. Plus, has adjustable straps and just feels so good.
I am wearing this bra in the above photos in black. This style also comes in a triangle version but I prefer the scoop neck style best. It also comes in an array of nudes and black, and in sizes XXS to 3X. I personally wear a medium.
True & Co True Body Scoop Neck Bralette
This bra is insanely comfortable and smoothing. My only complaint is that the underband isn’t super-elastic. I wish it was a tad more snug. I did a medium in it, and maybe a small would feel snugger to me. But this felt like a really really lazy bra to me. However, this was one of the MOST popular bras recommended by friends with larger chests which makes me think I just needed to size down for a more supportive fit.
This True & Co bra comes in several colors and XS to XL. It also is available in a v-neck. This is the bra I am wearing in the nude in the above photos.
Soma Enbliss Wireless Bralette
I would say this bra was the most recommended by readers and friends. This v-neck bra is totally seamless and has no adjustable straps. I love the fabric, it’s insanely soft. My only complaint about this bra is that the underband goes too far down onto my ribcage that it feels tight. And for reference, my ribcage kind of sticks out so that’s a pain point for me in any bra.
This bra comes in a ton of colors and in sizes S through 3X. I personally took a medium and like the fit. If you have very narrow shoulders though, I wouldn’t recommend this bra. The straps on my more broad shoulders can sometimes feel like it’s about to slide off.
LIVELY Straight Up Bralette
This is an update to a bra that I got years ago from LIVELY that they discontinued. So although I haven’t personally tried this exact one, I own several of their bras and bralettes and love them. Great fit and always super comfortable. Their lace triangel bralette is a favorite too (wrote all about it in this post!). This bra comes in an eco fabric as well and plenty of colorways to choose from.
Soma Embraceable Unlined Wireless Bra
Soma has such great bras and their wireless ones have quickly become a favorite. I love the v-neck on this bra and the adjustable straps and band. Super comfortable and soft too. I like the thickness of this bra as well making it a more substantial lazy bra than some of the others in today’s list.
This bralette comes in 4 neutral colors and in sizes S through 2X. I took a medium.
Lively Lace Triangle Bralette
One of my original bralettes that I always wear with my wrap dresses and tops. This bra is super comfy. And although it has lace, it really doesn’t show under tees at all. This lace bralette comes in 5 colors and ranges from size XS to L.
