I don’t really recall caring much about puzzles as a kid. I do recall the one time my college roommates and I worked on a puzzle that was all red apples. That’s about the only thing I have to say about the matter. But thanks to COVID and spending a TON of time at home, I thought I’d try a puzzle. During the Black Friday sales, I picked up this Gray Malin puzzle and I was so excited to have a little project. Plus, it’s beautiful!
When I got it in the mail I couldn’t wait to get to work on it. I was just excited to have something new to do that wasn’t scrolling my phone, watching TV, or sitting on my computer. Or eating, to be honest. I’m someone who eats out of boredom which has not been going great this past year.
After a few hours, I noticed how much I got into it. I was enthralled by the process and before I knew, hours went by and I didn’t check my phone, didn’t get up to open the fridge, nothing. This puzzle was also HARD. As in it took me several days and many hours. So many of you messaged me saying how hard it was and how you either gave up or swore off puzzles forever afterwards. It’s a tough one! But I feel like that’s what made it sort of enjoyable during these boring weekends. It was exactly what I needed.
Note to self though, might need to do my next attempt at a puzzle on my kitchen table. Sitting on the floor to work on this made me sore believe it or not. This is 34 I guess?

Are you into puzzles?
I feel like this is a polarizing activity for many. You either love them or hate them. Kind of like games, right? I’m into it all! So count me in. Finding the best puzzles for adults is now super easy. Or maybe it always was? I never did notice West Elm or Urban Outfitters selling puzzles until 2020, so here we are. From popular 90s pop culture like The Golden Girls or Friends to pretty prints from RIfle Paper Co and Ban.do, there’s really something for everyone. And of course, the gorgeous Gray Malin ones. But you’ve been warned that they’re super hard. There may be some easier ones, but I have two sets and they’re both VERY challenging. Shop more puzzles to take up some quarantine time below.
