There are few things I use just about every single day, but my cotton rounds are definitely one of them. Along with Q-tips, I mean I know we’re not supposed to use them, but how can you not after a shower. It’s just oh so satisfying. But another thing I always used usually after a shower, were my cotton rounds. From removing lingering eye makeup, to applying my toner. I used these religiously.
As I try to be more eco-friendly whenever possible, I kept wondering how I could adjust this daily ritual. I’ve seen people use these reusable makeup rounds that you just wash with your laundry. It sounded like a good idea so why not give them a try! I crowdsourced my readers to find out which ones are the best. There’s apparently a TON to choose from. Bamboo versions, cotton, and beyond.
Why I Switched To Reusable Makeup Remover Pads
Green Estate Reusable Makeup Remover Pads
The reusable makeup remover pads I personally purchased and have been using. A black side perfect for getting rid of mascara. Plus, it comes with a mini laundry bag for when you wash.
Reusable Cotton Round Review
Now that I’ve been using these remover makeup rounds for a few months, I thought it was time to share a full review. There are definitely pros and cons to making the swap. But overall, I’d say this was a great swap to make to be more eco-friendly and save money over time.
The Pros
I like that one side is black which makes it perfect for removing your leftover mascara after a shower. One complaint I heard often was that the all-white ones don’t stay all white with the makeup residue over time. So having a black side allows you to use that one for makeup and whatnot. The white side for my toner. Or really any side. But having the option I thought was nice.
All of the reusable makeup remover rounds come with a mini laundry bag so you don’t have them flying around the washer and dryer. It makes it easy to contain them when you do your laundry.
They’re also super affordable. You can get a pack of 20 for under $20. This pays for itself in no time if you use these every single day as I do.
The Cons
My only complaint on these is that they’re really thick and fluffy. Which isn’t ALWAYS a bad thing. But, when I use a toner, I like that the cotton disposable ones have a thinner feel to them and are a bit more exfoliating on my skin. I’ve noticed the bamboo reusable makeup remover rounds seem to look more like a true cotton round that you would just toss. I may be trying these next and just use a mix to have options.
The other con is that I wouldn’t use these (or I don’t even think you can/should) for removing nail polish. As someone who does their own nails every week, I do still need to use the cotton rounds for this. But I like the fact that I’ve at least significantly reduced my use of disposable cotton rounds in my daily routine.
