I am loving more and more a midi dress on me. I find them to be super flattering when they hit just right on your leg. And they allow you to not have to worry about flashing anyone. I think some people find this length to be a bit of a challenge, but I promise, it’s universally flattering.
The only thing you may want to look for if you’re shorter, is a more fitted look. This can help to create shape and not feel like you’re swimming in fabric. Come spring and summer, I find myself reaching for my cotton midis all the time. From midi shirt dresses, to tank dresses, florals and more. The midi fit is just the best.
Best Summer Midi Dresses
T-Shirt Midi Dresses
A good tee or shirt midi dress is so effortless and casual for summer. Pair it with a denim jacket that you can tie around your waist and you’ve got a perfectly put together outfit.
You can go more casual with a true t-shirt dress that’s just kind of a relaxed tee. Or try something more elevated like a shirt dress that’s a button down style. Here are some ways to style a shirt dress.
Tank Midi Dresses
The next best thing after a t-shirt dress, is a tank one. Like today’s from LOFT, this little tank henley dress is so easy and comfortable. Whether you go wider strap, or spaghetti, fitted or flowy, so many options.
Feminine And Floral Midi Dresses For Summer
I find myself always gravitating towards pretty feminine and floral midis for summer. They pair nicely with an espadrille or even just a flat little sandal or slide. Add a straw bag and you are good to go. These types of dresses are great for events, showers, weddings and more. I love them for warm weather getaways too.
When it comes to pretty little floral midis for summer, I always tend to gravitate towards Madewell or Reformation dresses. They make some of my favorite pieces.
Things I Look For In A Midi Dress
To feel my best in a midi dress, I need to check a few boxes. I usually like a good fitting dress that hugs the body, or at least has good shape to it. I do not do well in a potato sac. However, I’ll make the exception if a belt or denim jacket tied around the waist makes it look good. Never underestimate a good cinch in the waist.
I also really prefer a good slit up the leg. I think it’s more flattering and allows for more movement. And lastly, if the fabric is great and flattering, I love a body hugging one. This one from Good American is a personal favorite and it is just *chefs kiss* so good. Below are a few favorite midi dresses I’m eyeing for my closet for the summer.
