Hi, my name is Jessica and I go to the same restaurants over and over again. And one of them is bartaco and I have no shame in it.
Hear me out. I love asian and mexican cuisine. I also love inexpensive food and really good margaritas. So it’s no surprise that I’m kind of slightly obsessed with bartaco. Plus, they’ve been very kind to me and this blog. They invite me in often to try their newest #bartacosecret and last week I just took over their Instastories. So like, how could you not love it? But in all seriousness, I’m guilty of this really annoying habit that actually drives me crazy.
It’s a habit I loathe when I do it and even when others do it too. I will say, I usually try new items off a menu, but hey it happens! Take Charleston for example. Even when I go visit, I tend to go to the same old spots. Part of it is the nostalgia of it, but the food is good. The other part? I just know I’m guaranteed a great meal!
Part of my new habits for 2018 are to try new restaurants, but I’ll never forget old faithful ones like bartaco. It’s home to my favorite margaritas, best guacamole and it’s the first restaurant to ever turn me into a plantain fan. Don’t even get me started on the key lime pie (my go to dessert) and the poké. Oh yeah and the corn and portobello bowl. Alright, so the list goes on and the menu is perfect.
Do you sometimes fall into this routine of same restaurant, same menu choices? I’m going to try to break out of the habit and aim to visit new spots in the city this year. If you’re in Atlanta, give me your favorite off the beaten path spots so I can give them a try!
One of my favorite cocktails to order at bartaco are their watermelon jalapeño margaritas. They’re spicy, but refreshing. And who can resist a pink cocktail? Always ask what sort of fruit they have for margaritas because it can change on the season as they use whatever’s fresh.
If you’re looking for a non taco option, you can get all their tacos wrapped in lettuce if you like. Their tuna taco’s come like that automatically and are one of my favorite ones on the menu. Another personal menu item favorite that I tried recently are their portobello bowls. Topped with peppers, onions and chunks of griddled cheese with their salsa, it’s a favorite. I always order it because it’s pretty big and usually end up taking half of it home for lunch the next day.
