A closet staple that everyone should own is hands down a great trench coat. One that you can throw on over jeans and rainboots, or even dress up with a heel if you need to. They’re ideal for that in-between weather when things can get a little wet and dreary. Whether that’s winter to spring, spring to summer and even summer to fall. This is a coat that I probably wear the most in my closet. That’s of course if we don’t count my leather jacket which I think is excluded from “coats”.
The Best Trench Coats Under $200
A trench coat is a classic and typically looks very similar year to year even when the styles change. They’re often double-breasted, belted, and have a military-style to them. And the fabric is usually heavy-duty cotton that is waterproof or resistant. We all know the classic Burberry trench coat. While that’s a great investment and you’ll have it forever, I’m not one to drop that kind fo money. I’m more in the under $200 range kind of person, so I’m rounding up a few of my favorite trench coats that won’t break the bank, but will definitely keep you looking put together when it’s gloomy out.

How To Style A Trench Coat
I really think a trench coat is one of those insanely versatile pieces in your closet. So much so that you don’t have to put a ton of effort into making outfits with it. It just kind of works. Today I paired it simply with jeans and heels and a tee for fall. But it really can work with a lot! I’ve paired my classic trench coats with little black dresses and heels. To even shorts and rainboots for those spring showers. I pretty much don’t think twice when I throw on a trench coat with an outfit because it’s so timeless! You can even see a fun pink trench I’ve styled here and even a navy trench here. And go even more casual and just jeans and sneakers like I did here.
Once you own a classic camel trench, I recommend venturing out into some of your favorite colorways too. I surprisingly wear my navy and blush one a lot!
