Sometimes I surprise myself and end up loving something that I swore was not me. Not one bit at all. Growing up in Oregon as a young kid, everyone and their mom (and dad) owned Birkenstocks.
I had the knock off Boston clog – remember these? – that were a must-have back in the early 2000s. But here we are in 2020 and I bought the real deal, Birkenstock Arizona EVA sandal.
The Arizona is a classic style they’ve had for years. It’s just the two strap with the buckle. But this EVA or plastic version is new and oh so comfortable. They’re under $50, come in tons of colors, and are insanely comfy.
I really bought them to walk my dog in. I head out of the house at least half a dozen times a day to walk her and usually throw on busted old flip flops. The flip-flops were so worn down that I was about to be hitting cement when I walked. It was time for an upgrade.
And if you’re torn between the Birkenstocks or the Freedom Moses or even this version from Amazon, I say go with the real deal. I personally haven’t tried the Freedom Moses ones, however, I have heard good things. If you want color and print, they’re your best bet.
And if you’re not ready to splurge, go with the Amazon ones. Although the Amazon ones are cute and more narrow, the Birkenstocks are 100x more comfortable. I don’t know what they do to that shoe, but my god it’s perfection.

How To Style The Plastic Birkenstocks
After upgrading though, it turns out I love them so much I started to style them with actual outfits. Just pairing these Birkenstock EVA Arizona sandals with these Everlane Curvy Cheeky mom jeans and a tee is perfection. Simple, cool, and casual.
I like to pair a chunky sandal like this with straight leg jeans. I think it works perfectly with the fit and vibe.
I’ve also paired them with these wide-leg crop jeans for another easy combo which you can see here. Basically, I want to see the shoe and not cover it up!
Next up for styling, these will definitely pair well with a casual midi dress for fall. Maybe even a t-shirt dress. And of course, they go perfectly with my joggers!
