Every summer I feel like I’ve had a pair of black espadrilles and every year, there’s something wrong with them. Don’t fit great, not comfortable, something that makes me donate them. I tend to lean more towards earth tones in the summer and leave my black pieces for fall and winter. But I still do love a black and denim combo. With that, it was time to pull the trigger on the espadrilles I’ve been eyeing since I tried them on during this fun trip.
No surprise here that I love Castañer espadrilles. And when I was on a girls trip to Spain last summer, we stumbled into their store. I demanded me visit before jetting off to our next destination. Wasn’t too hard to convince my three best girlfriends to go shopping of course. We popped in and tore the entire store apart trying on just about every shoe. There was a major sale going on and stock was limited. I tried on these shoes and just can’t remember if I either couldn’t pull the trigger or they didn’t have my size. Either way, a year later, I ordered them. I just had to have them.
This was also the trip where I learned this mind-blowing espadrille trick to properly tying them. They’re 100x more secure and don’t flop around when you tie them this way. I promise you are likely tying them all wrong. Once you do this one little step before you tie them, your espadrille experience will be forever changed. I always hated how floppy my espadrilles were on my feet making them easy to trip and stumble in and just not as comfortable. Once you tie them the right way, you’ll know what I mean!

How I’m Styling My Black Castaner Espadrilles
I always feel like a black summer sandal is my least common shoe that I style. I tend to always grab the nudes and browns for summer. More lighter neutral tones if you will. But these black Castaner espadrilles were calling my name. And the way I’ve been styling them is simply with denim and a black tee. Whether they’re denim shorts, denim crops or anything in between. And for a black top, you can go black tank, black tee or even a black linen button down. They also pair nicely with summer dresses from floral prints to tropical prints. I think they’re so versatile and feel much lighter than a black sandal thanks to all the neutral espadrille raffia.
