Our trip to Charleston feels like AGES ago already. I can’t believe it came and gone as quickly as it did. Missing the girls a ton already! When packing for Charleston I always want to be comfortable because it’s a big walking city and the last thing I want to do is be uncomfortable while getting ready to indulge in oysters and cocktails. I snagged this bold winter sweater in bright yellow from Nordstrom when I also grabbed this coat. I was really going for it that day!
Styling Bold Sweaters
I honestly wasn’t sure how I’d style this bright color, but then I realized how perfect this fun scarf paired with it! Leopard booties since they’re obviously a neutral (they are, trust me) and I was good to go. Lately, I’ve been finding myself gravitating towards yellow a lot more. I think when you find the right shade of it, it can be super flattering and really does go with quite a bit. It can be paired with burgundy, navy, browns, and greens. I really can’t think of a way it wouldn’t work
Bold sweaters can really be a fun piece to style. It just requires embracing some color and coordinating the rest of your look. You can even go super safe and just pair them with denim or black jeans and a neutral shoe. Let the bold sweater do the talking. But I do love the idea of adding some print and more color when done right. Just pull in similar colors that compliment it. My favorite way to do this is to honestly look at a color wheel. Whatever color is directly across the one you’re trying to coordinate with, are complimentary and will almost always work. This yellow sweater may not seem like it goes with purple, but clearly it does! Purple is right across from it on the color wheel. And it just works!
You can then go to either side of the purple and see that blues also can work and even a little bit of pinks. This little hack is always so interesting to me and truly helps to answer that question, what will this go with. It allows you to be more playful with color and try new combinations you may not have naturally dreamt up!
