Have you ever had a Negroni? I recently tried one for the first time last year and really loved it. It’s a classic Italian cocktail using equal parts Campari, sweet vermouth and gin. It’s citrusy, bitter and has a hint of sweet cherry to it. This aperitivo is perfect for enjoying after a long day before dinner. Or even with a charcuterie board as the bitterness helps to cut through the fattiness of meats and cheeses. It’s really my favorite thing to enjoy for happy hour when vacationing overseas.
How To Make a Boulevardier Cocktail
But as someone who lives in the South, I suppose it’s also worth embracing bourbon. It’s no secret Coopers’ Craft is a favorite bourbon. I’ve made many cocktails featuring this Kentucky bourbon and I just love how smooth it is. For a twist on a classic, try a Boulevardier. It’s an actual cocktail, not just a swap of liquor. This is a Negroni but made with bourbon instead of gin.
If you’re not into gin, but prefer bourbon or whiskey, you’re going to love this variation. This cocktail is called the Boulevardier. And it is the exact same recipe of equal parts Campari and red sweet vermouth but with bourbon instead of gin. Super easy to make and so delicious.
Ingredients
- 1 oz of Campari
- 1 oz of red sweet vermouth
- 1 oz of Coopers’ Craft bourbon (you can use any bourbon or whiskey, this is just what I always have on hand)
- Orange twist for garnish
- Ice
Method
Add your Campari, vermouth and bourbon to a shaker or cocktail stirring glass. Add your ice and stir the drink until it’s nice and chilled. Strain into a coupe glass or rocks glass, and garnish with an orange twist.
That’s it! it’s so easy to make and such a delicious and impressive drink to serve guests. I’m all for a super easy cocktail that feels really special and this one will do just that.
