A few months ago I tried the Trunk Club service at home. Here in Atlanta, we don’t have our own Clubhouse, so the at home Trunk was the way to go. I personally loved it as I’m kind of a sucker for using a stylist to help get me out of my usual go to’s. So when I was heading to Charleston last week, I knew I wanted to give the Clubhouse experience a try and see how different it was.
The appointment started a week prior to my visit with a quick email to my stylist Tara to tell her what exactly I was looking to achieve in the appointment. Since I have a ton of travel in the coming weeks still, I wanted easy pieces that could be dressed up or down, and also comfortable. Think easy dresses, comfy pants and good basics. Plus, I’ve been on the hunt for a new field jacket in olive green for summer. With my goals in mind, Tara got to work on creating my Trunk.
Just like my at home Trunk, she first sends a preview so I can edit it down for her. I removed one of the more expensive pieces that I just knew I wouldn’t purchase. A also removed a couple of things that just either weren’t my style, or I owned an identical version of. This helps to give her an even better idea of what I’m looking for so she can edit the Trunk to perfection. You even select the reason and can leave notes so she can better choose pieces for you.
Once I arrived in Charleston, I headed in to my appointment to try it all on. The space is at the newly renovated Cigar Factory which is a cool industrial lofty kind of space. It’s a super cool and up and coming area with great restaurants on either end. When I arrived, Tara took me upstairs and we walked into this gorgeous space you see here in these photos. Something you definitely don’t get at a department store, natural light! I loved the giant windows and the decor was basically perfection. The Clubhouse also has a full bar so while you’re trying on your trunk you can sip on champagne, a coffee, whatever you like. This is my kind of shopping!
We then got to trying on the pieces in my Trunk which I was so excited about. I noticed she added lots more dresses to my Trunk which was great. I tend to gravitate towards jeans and tops so it was great to have her bring out new pieces. One of the great perks of visiting an actual Clubhouse is getting that personal styling assistance while trying everything on. I tried on one striped dress that really needed to be tailored, but I would’ve just taken it off and said “it doesn’t fit”. But they actually have on site tailors who can make your items fit perfectly. While also trying on a piece, Tara pulled a denim jacket from their personal inventory to show me how to complete the look. It helped me see how I would wear it at home which was a quick sell!
After trying everything on, and really falling in love with all of it, I ended up going home with a few new things. The flutter sleeve printed Madewell dress which will be great for day or night. A new field jacket that I’ve been on the hunt for and these amazing Madewell striped culottes. They’re SO comfy and going to be a fun summer piece for travel. Keep on scrolling for more images from the appointment!
And why yes, I biked my goodies back to my hotel and it made for the greatest day ever. Take me back!
