It’s that time of year when we’re baking up a storm and enjoying all the sweets and treats the holidays bring. While I enjoy a good sweet, I’m rarely one to make anything super fancy. But give me a good cookie or blondie recipe, and I can be a baker. For the holidays, these chocolate crinkle cookies have become a staple. My sister loves them, I love them, so they’re now required. I can’t take credit for this super easy recipe. It’s one from What’s Gaby Cooking. I’ve tried many of her recipes both sweet and savory, and they always turn out great.
How To Make Chocolate Crinkle Cookie Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 4 eggs, room temperature
- 3 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- powdered sugar for dusting – only need about 1/3 or 1/2 cup
Method
Step One
Combine the cocoa powder, sugar and oil until combined well.
Step Two
Add in your eggs and vanilla and mix until combined. Scrape down the bowl to make sure everything is well combined.
Step Three
Add in the rest of your dry ingredients, flour, salt, baking powder. Mix until well combined. I’d scrape down the bowl here, then mix some more.
Step Four
Cover with plastic wrap and pop in the fridge for 3-4 hours at least. The dough needs to be very chilled and firm before rolling and baking or you’ll have sad cookies.
Step Five
Take a tablespoon scooper and scoop out dough and drop into powdered sugar and roll around. Place on a parchment lined sheet pan. Bake at 350 Fahrenheit for 10 minutes.
