It’s rare that you HAVE to wear a coat in Atlanta. But this February, we had some temperatures that have been a little brutal and a coat has been mandatory. I’ve finally made an effort to get some great coats in my wardrobe so that I’m covered for all occasions. A great toggle coat is a classic coat that I think everyone should have in their closet. It’s a style I grew up wearing in private school, our little wool toggle coats were seriously adorable, and even now is a classic you can wear no matter who you are or where you’re going.

Classic Winter Coats To Invest In
There’s no need to rebuy coats every single year. Instead, invest in good quality classics that will last you year after year. Season after season. There are 3 coats I think every closet should have if you live in a place that truly experiences winter. If you’re in the south like myself, I’d say skip the toggle as it’s such a classic coat that pairs with a northeastern winter perfectly. We don’t really need it in the south though.
Toggle Coats
Today’s jacket is a classic toggle coat. It’s one that brings me back to my private school days. It’s a complete classic that will never go out of style. It’s definitely a little more preppy or traditional if you will, but you’ll hold onto it for years to come.
Puffer Coats
If you live in a very very cold climate, you have to have a puffer coat. Period. They keep you toasty warm! They’re a little more casual but with the right length and a darker color, you can make it work for the office or even to throw over a dress for heading out in the winter for an event. I recently got this Everlane puffer and it is SO warm!
Wool Trench
For wearing all the time with just about everything. A classic wool trench is fashion forward, yet classic. Goes with everything and looks great. Here is where you can have some fun with styles and trends. From this green tweed one to my favorite blush colored wool coat, there are so many options!
