Over the holidays I received a giftcard to an outlet mall. Sure that’s great and all but we don’t have those in Atlanta. You have to drive at least an hour outside the city to get to one. And to be honest, I was in no mood to do such a thing. I wish there was one closer because I actually really like J.Crew Factory and clearly Coach. But luckily, on the drive into Charleston I pass one every single time. I thought this would be the perfect way to spend my morning (not). But alas, a gift card had to be spent, and shopping had to be done. Such is life. I popped into Coach not thinking I’d find anything. Well more so thinking I’d find this bag that I snagged from Lauren and didn’t. Instead though, I found this gorgeous blush eyelet trench coat perfect for spring! After their sale, discount and gift card, I spent $8 on this bad boy. $8! Such a steal. Love shopping stories like that, don’t you?
I bought my first real big girl trench a few years ago at Club Monaco. You can see how I styled it here with shorts and rain boots, and also here with a cute little dress. I didn’t think I’d love a trench so much and since that purchase, I’ve been adding more to the collection. Whether they’re sleeveless like my favorite Topshop duster, black or eyelet like today’s, this is a classic style that will never, ever go out of style. I recommend getting a trench in the classic length that hits mid thigh or above the knee. This is, in my opinion, the most flattering and classic silhouette. This style will outlive all the other lengths and be most versatile in your closet. It’s great for throwing over dresses, or shorts, or jeans. It’s a functional piece that makes a statement at the same time. Having statement and functional pieces are always a must for my teeny tiny closet. I think I’ll be wearing this blush one next with an all white look for a truly summer ensemble.
