Everyone has their favorite brand of coffee they enjoy in the morning. For me, I’ve been a Dunkin’ Donuts fan for many many years. It’s my go to coffee. So when Dunkin’ Donuts asked me to try their new cold brew packs, it was an easy heck yes. I’ve tried making cold brew coffee at home before since the flavor is so much better than just pouring hot coffee over ice. Although it’s delicious and much cheaper than buying it in the store, it makes a MESS. Fact, I tried making iced coffee at home here once. You have to put all the loose grinds in a pitcher, let it sit overnight and then strain it. Do you know how messy it is to strain coffee grinds? It’s awful.
So of course I told Dunkin’ Donuts that I’d walk on over to my Target, head to the coffee aisle and scoop up their new Dunkin’ Donuts Cold Brew to give it a whirl. PS, Target is offering 30% off these handy packs when you download the offer from Cartwheel.
THE NIGHT BEFORE
These are pre-packed coffee grinds in a filter pouch so all you have to do is plop one of the pouches into a pitcher, add water, leave overnight and enjoy. Here’s Pork and I making it before heading to bed. So easy!
THE NEXT MORNING
The next morning, you then add a few more cups of water to the coffee concentrate and then enjoy throughout the week. ZERO mess. Just delicious cold brew coffee ready to drink when you are. I like to pour mine over coffee ice cubes (most brilliant concept around) and add in some half & half.
With my iced coffee in hand, I thought I’d also share what my mornings as a fashion blogger look like. I say this because I can’t tell you how many times my Mom calls me during the week and asks what I’m doing. My answer is almost always “working”. It’s been interesting as I work for myself the last few years in this very new industry. People don’t realize that some of the things you’re doing that look like fun (and that they can easily do as well) are work for me. That Instagram post? It’s sometimes very carefully planned, reviewed, edited and so on. My photoshoots, they’re time and money, so please leave a voicemail (nevermind, send a text). So when Dunkin’ Donuts asked me to share my morning routine I thought it would be a great way to show what it is I actually do.
My mornings start off the same ALWAYS. I brush my teeth, make the bed, walk Pork then make a coffee. Never have I strayed from this in years. I like to add just a little half and half to my coffee and then I head straight to my computer. And to be honest, I usually spend the first hour or so in my pajamas. But for the sake of taking pretty photos, I skipped that part of my morning to save you from my bed head.
My first order of business is to make sure my posts are up and good to go, scheduled social is ready and then I pin all my images to Pinterest from that day’s post. After an hour or so of working I do one of two things. I either head to the gym for my morning workout or pop into the shower and get ready for the day. I usually like to wear pretty comfy stuff at home. Like these linen pants guys, heaven. Still put together enough to run errands and be cute if I need to.
Once I’m back in my desk, it’s time to knock out my to do list. Working from home has taught me a few tricks to staying organized. I like to split mine up into three sections. One for the blog, one for The Blog Societies and one for me personally. By keeping it separate, I can focus on what’s most important for each one. It feels less overwhelming to see three short lists instead of one big long list.
For today, I’m having to take an Instagram for this exact post so that’s one of those things on my to do list for My Style Vita. See, I know it sounds fun and like you can do it too. But there’s sometimes so much that goes into that one Instagram. Between styling it nicely, ensuring the right items are in it (or not in it as well) to getting it reviewed by the brand and then planning it into my feed.
Throughout my day I switch between work and errands. I like to break my work day up whenever I can whether it’s heading to my new fitness class at 10am, or the grocery store. This usually means that I end up working late into the night which is totally fine with me. I actually enjoy working that late to be honest and I usually whip up another coffee then too.
So there you have it, a day in the life of a blogger!
