Since Cathy has moved down, we’re beginning to see a work flow trend happening. We work at a coffee shop for a few hours, then try a new restaurant and maybe do some more work. It’s been a fun way to try new spots that are on my list and we’re slowly knocking them out!
A few weeks ago Colletta at Avalon invited us in for lunch. One look at the menu and I knew we were going to be eating well! Since this was a working lunch, we skipped the wine menu and instead opted for a delicious orange cream soda. Basically a melted creamsicle that was to die for. We ordered a variety of items to try, and since Cathy is a pescetarian, we stayed mostly within her dietary restrictions. But when I saw their take on the classic prosciutto and melon, I had to order it even though I’d be eating it solo. Instead of melon, they use local peaches and honeycomb for their southern take on this Italian classic. It’s also served with these little dough bites that are to die for. All of the pastas we tried were insane. I particularly loved the farfalle with crab that was a little more decadent with cream and lots of garlic. To end the whole meal, we tried a few of their desserts and my favorite was definitely the Nonna tart. It was almost like a chocolate pudding topped with a super light cookie. Basically this was one of the best meals I had enjoyed in a long time. I can’t wait to go back and try a few new dishes.
I’m totally digging this new habit that Cathy and I have started and it’s super convenient because she was able to snap a few photos of my look as well. This little flounce skirt from Banana Republic was a random find and I’m kind of obsessed with it. I think red is quickly becoming my new favorite color.
