This is a story about a jumpsuit that was just meant to be. I headed to Ponce City Market, a super cute shop, dine, play spot here in Atlanta with a friend for lunch. We laughed and gabbed over chips and salsa and spicy margaritas. I was celebrating finalizing a big project and she was about to sell her first house as a realtor. Margaritas were in order. I don’t know what was in those two spicy margaritas, but we were feeling GREAT in no time. I love a good impromptu day drinking escapade. Since I don’t drink very often, this is usually where I thrive.
I Fell In Love With This Marine Layer Jumpsuit
Since Ponce City Market is full of fantastic shops, you can actually see a few favorites here, we were bound to do some shopping. We popped into Marine Layer, a favorite brand that I do not shop at enough, and started to try on all the things. I found this cute jumpsuit and threw it on in a drunken tizzy and instantly bought it.
When I sobered up the following day and decided to re-try this adorable jumpsuit on, I noticed it was, well, a tad too long. It hit in such a weird spot on my short legs. Like slightly above my ankle but not enough above for it to be cropped. And not long enough for it to work as-is. Plus, I probably could’ve gone with a small. But the medium is a nice relaxed fit and super comfortable.
I thought, great, how dumb of me to shop while buzzed. Lesson learned. But then I remembered I have a great tailor down the road and maybe this just needs a good hem! I never get ANYTHING altered. Ever. I never really need to, and I usually just cut my jeans so the hem is perfect. See the super easy tutorial here.
Always Have A Great Tailor
But I am a firm believer in tailoring things, and just haven’t really needed to do it. I decided to bring this in and get it hemmed for my short legs and voila! It’s perfection! So the moral of the story is, shopping after a few margaritas is no doubt super fun and worth it. And always, always have a good tailor you can trust. If you need one in Atlanta, I go to Hong’s Custom Tailor off Roswell Rd. They also did a black-tie evening gown that needed to be taken in a ton and it fit perfectly. Highly recommend!
