You may or may not know this about me, but I used to be a figure skater way back in the day. I spent my childhood mornings waking up bright and early to head to the rink to practice for 2 hours before then heading to school. It was my everything. One of my favorite things about that time in my life were all the fun outfits I got to wear to compete and perform in. Whether it was a a fun showcase where I played the chef from The Little Mermaid (that may have been my favorite) or my Star Spangled red white and blue outfit that matched my music, the outfits were key.
I think I owe a lot of my fabric knowledge to that time in my life though. Each outfit was custom made using fun fabrics like chiffon, taffeta and velvet. Crushed velvet was one of my favorites and was used time and time again in my outfits. The moment I saw this dress in person it took me right back to those days of putting on a fun outfit to head on to the ice with. Sadly I don’t skate anymore and desperately wish I would take it back up again even just for a good workout. I did have some fun back during the holidays when I went skating at Avalon.
Over the holidays I wore this look to a charity event and wanted to share it with you. This dress is another re:named find that’s under $100 ($57 to be exact) and so stinkin pretty. I love the high slit, midi length and little bit of sheer paneling. I also picked up these fun joggers for spring from their collection. Their trendy pieces and even better pricing make this my new favorite line!
