Whether it’s a beach getaway, a Memorial Day Weekend lake trip, or just a dip in the pool, it’s swimsuit season. I love basking in the warmth of the sun poolside (I do like a beach, but prefer a pool) working on my sun-kissed glow. Nothing really beats a few hours laying by the pool, reading a new book, and maybe taking a snooze. Bonus points for being at a nice hotel where there’s a pool boy to bring you cocktails and a chicken club. Because yes a chicken club is the quintessential pool order. Period.
Cute bathing suits and coverups are both a favorite to shop for, and also can be the most dreadful. I can’t quite put my finger on it. But I struggle. So I’ve scoured the internet for cute swimsuits to feel good in, and coverups that don’t make you look like a blob. Coverups for me tend to be jean shorts and a linen button-down. But sometimes it’s nice to have a cute coverup with some extra coverage like a longer skirt to keep you covered from too much sun. But they’re also great for going from pool to lunch, to party. A great cover up dress is key!

Cute Swimsuits And Coverups
Whether you’re looking for a cool black swimsuit, or a cute coverup to wear to the pool and to dinner, this is the ULTIMATE roundup. Bikinis, one pieces, long torso and more. Plus, a few of my favorite brands that I always gravitate towards for great fitting and good quality suits.
Black One Piece Swimsuit
A black one piece swimsuit can be a great basic and they don’t have to be boring. The key is to find one with a unique detail or two. Like a one-shoulder, or cool back, or even a fun belt. A black one piece is something I always pack with me on any warm weather trip because it easily acts as a bodysuit to make several outfits out of. A great backup when you need a quick outfit! I love this Summersalt one piece from the Jacey Duprie collection. I die for the back of it! I’ve never personally tried this brand but have several friends who swear by them. The price point is also great. And they also offer long torso options! My Aerie one piece is also a go-to and has lasted me years. A much more affordable option, but not as cool, but does the trick!
Aerie Swimsuits
I’m a big fan of the Aerie swimsuits. And for a few reasons. Their one pieces come in a long, which for me is great. I didn’t really realize I had such a long torso until I tried their long one pieces and they fit SO well. The price point can’t be beat. Their bikinis are adorable and can easily be mixed and matched.
Maaji Swimwear
Probably my first more expensive swimwear brand that I bought in college. One of the things I love about Maaji is that their swimsuits are reversible. Two for one! They are also in such fun prints and colors, I just love them. They’re also a great fit and have always found myself loving their swimsuits year after year.
Long Torso One Pieces
Now that I’ve discovered I have a semi-long torso, I’ve been on the hunt for more long torso one pieces. A few brands that offer this include Aerie, J.Crew, Athleta, Boden, ASOS and Andie to name a few.
L*Space Swimsuits
L*Space swimsuits are definitely a bit of a splurge. However, I have found that they are insanely flattering, so sexy and great quality. They’re super comfortable and love that a lot of their bikinis come with an underwire. The Camellia style is a very popular style that I personally own and love. These tend to come in more neutral and muted colors, but there are plenty of fun colors to choose from too. There are even a few fun tie-dye styles that aren’t too overwhelming. Year after year, these are always the ones that I reach for in my bikini drawer!
Sarong Coverups
Sarongs are a great way to have a limited amount of coverage. These can be wrapped in different ways sometimes to also be worn as a dress or a skirt.
Beach Dresses
So many great beach dresses and probably my preferred look behind jean shorts and a linen top. Beach dress cover ups are so great because they’re SO versatile. Wear to the pool, then off to lunch, add a low block heel to grab cocktails. Having a few great beach dresses that can work double duty will help save space in your suitcase and maximize your outfits. Go colorful and full of prints, or more simple in solid white or black. A few favorite brands to look at for beach cover up dresses are L.Space, 9 Seed, Madewell, Playa Lucila and Maaji.
Beach Pants
I love a great beach pant. Again, versatility is key. They can be worn to the beach, paired with your one-piece to hit the cocktail club, or worn with a tee for when you’re out exploring. I got into these thanks to these from Abercrombie.
