We’re hitting those 30 degree weather days finally and it truly feels like the bitter cold of winter is here. And while I’d like to just live in my sweatpants until spring comes, I can’t. So this winter outfit combination is quickly becoming my go-to. It’s comfortable, stylish, with a bit of grunge to it. I’m into it. I also tested out this coat while in New York City and it was so warm and toasty, and I got so many compliments on it.
My Go To Winter Outfit Combination
I’m finding myself reach for this type of outfit more and more. Let’s start with the shoes. For starters, I can’t stop reaching for my Dr Martens. They’ve really become my favorite shoe and I think I’m just making up for lost time as a teenager who wasn’t allowed to wear them. For denim, my Madewell vintage jeans are insanely comfortable and flattering. I wear them with everything. These are a tad big on me so right now they’re just more comfortable than all my other denim. But obviously, all Madewell denim has a special place in my closet.
And this Everlane sweater is super cozy and love the details on it. They make some of my most favorite sweaters in my closet and at a great price point. This pretty lavender color is actually a favorite for my closet. I tend to not wear a ton of color, but this hue is one I find myself adding to my closet more. Whether it’s summer or fall, it’s a great shade for my skintone.
My Dr. Martens
I’ve become a little obsessed with Dr Martens lately. And these are a new addition to my closet. They’re vegan patent leather and while they’re so cute, they’re definitely on the stiffer side. But I think they just need some breaking in. I love the platform sole on them and I think that’s a must for Dr Martens. I go with my usual whole size. If you’re in-between, size down.
Dr Martens With Straight Leg Jeans
One of the big style challenges I’ve noticed this fall and winter is how to wear all my straight leg jeans with boots. It’s a challenge! I wrote this big post on which shoes pair well with straight leg or mom jeans here. I really think Dr Martens are the perfect boot for this. They have a high shaft that can be laced up close to the leg so your jeans can fall nicely over them.
