A few weeks ago the new DVF store opened here in Atlanta and I was SO excited to check it out. I’ve been a fan of DVF for years, but have actually never tried any of her pieces on. When I popped into the store I literally grabbed everything to try it on. It was so fun to get to see all of her items merchandised and styled throughout the fun colorful store. I couldn’t want to try everything!
My First DVF Fashion Item – The Gingham Peplum Shell
While I tried on just about everything in sight, I was a bit surprised at what I loved and didn’t love. I’ll be honest, the wrap dress is beautiful, but not sure if it’s meant for my body type. I know DVF is known for her wrap dresses and how they are universally flattering. But it just wasn’t for me.
I did however fall in love with this peplum piece. It came in a few great classic solid colors, but I really wanted something different. So a gingham peplum shell was kind of the best way to be different.
This gingham peplum shell has just a slight peplum to it making it feel not overly trendy, but still unique. You can wear it with jeans, or a pencil skirt. And you can layer a blazer over it for the office too.
Gingham is such a southern, classic, summer print and one I have actually never owned. I think the combination of it being DVF, peplum and gingham makes it kind of perfect for me and my personal style. It’ll probably be the only way you see me wear gingham this summer.
How I Styled My Gingham Peplum Shell Top
I knew when I got this gingham top that I wanted to dress it up. I paired it with my favorite black skinny jeans for a sleek long look. And then for a shoe, I went with my new nude Manolo Blahniks. This look would be great for the office. But you can totally wear this out to a nice dinner too in the spring time.
Added a white leather bag and black sunglasses to complete the entire look. And of course, a bold hot pink lipstick, my favorite for spring and summer looks.
