Something I’ve recognized as I am experiencing this incredible culture shift that is long overdue, is that I was not highlighting enough small businesses here on My Style Vita. It’s a shame really, that I didn’t think to spend more time finding cool small brands owned by women, or people of color. That all changes. I even created a folder on my Instagram to save small brands, brands owned by black women, and the like. It’s important to me as a small business owner myself, that this becomes more of a habit.
So with that, I wanted this month’s Everyday Dwellings post to highlight just that. Small, black owned businesses in the home decor category. I was pleasantly surprised to see Clare Paint is owned by a black woman. I love their concept, branding, their mission. And I also discovered a few Atlanta based businesses too like Scents of Eternity. Their shop is restocking their candles next week! But also on the candle front, The Koop has some incredible branding which must mean their candles smell amazing, right?
Also so in love with the baskets and placemats from Subsahara featured above. And if you’re into linen bedding, Linoto has some incredible looking sheets made in New York. Below are a few more I’m loving.
Black Home Decor Brands To Shop
Clare Paint
I’ve known about Clare Paint, but never personally tried it. I know a few blog friends of mine have and they’ve loved it. The coolest part to me is that they send you paint samples that are actual stickers. So you can move it around your house instead of painting a million swatches. Really wish I did this with my white walls instead of the hot mess I created with swatches (and the swift color choice I don’t 100% love). Image via Within The Grove
Jungalow
I’ve seen Jungalow before and LOVE their stuff. Also, the founder Justina is a solid follow as well. Jungalow started as a design blog that evolved into a full blown shop. I just love that. The laid back, coloful items are so fun and add a perfect pop to your home.
Estelle Colored Glasses
From colorful wine glasses, stemless glasses and cake stands, these are so cool and different. They’re antique inspired hand blown pieces are one of a kind. And I think they’d make an incredible wedding gift!
Denniston House
I love a good homeware brand that has cool vases, bowls, and little knick knacks. Denniston House has just that. These wooden bowls are beautiful! Also loving this marble domed server.
I think this company is SUPER new so I’ll be keeping an eye out on their inventory as they restock items. Several things I’m ready to add to my cart!
