There are three levels of makeup that I do depend on the occasion. From heading to the grocery store, to my everyday makeup routine for a meeting to a full-on glam event. It really all depends on my level of “giving a shit” if you will. I’m sure you have a few different types of makeup routines you do depending on what your schedule for the day looks like.
For me, the first is the bare minimum of concealer and mascara to just look like I didn’t roll out of bed. Then there’s my everyday makeup which I’ll be sharing today. It’s what I typically wear when I’m heading out to lunch or dinner with friends, or to a meeting. It’s a full face, but nothing heavy or over the top. Then the final level is full-blown glam. Which is similar to today’s but with a heavier coverage foundation, a little more contouring, and sometimes heavier eye makeup.
My Everyday Makeup Tutorial
For my everyday makeup routine, I’d say a majority of these are on heavy rotation and have been a favorite for quite a while. Every so often I try something new that may replace something. But it’s rare. I’d say the two things that change based on mood and just trying new things are my primer and foundation.
I rotate through a few primers for oily skin that I love. When it comes to foundations, I’m always sort of trying new ones. I find it hard to find one that’s good coverage, without being too heavy that looks natural. I have a few I rotate through as well though and my NARS one is probably my most loved for an everyday natural makeup look.

Step By Step Everyday Makeup Routine
Primer
Since I’m insanely oily, I have to wear a primer. Anyone who tells me otherwise is crazy. I’ve been testing out these three and honestly love them all. Haven’t really found one that’s more superior than the other. Fenty Primer, Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer and Smashbox Oil & Shine Control.
Foundation + Concealer
Next, I apply concealer and it’s either Tarte Cosmetics Shape Tape or NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. I add this to my under eye and any blemishes and blend it in. Then I go in with my foundation. Lately, I’m using the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Foundation. I like the look of it, a little goes a long way, and it does a decent amount of coverage. I will say, I’m not 100% sold that I was matched to the right color. Seriously, why aren’t the beauty counters at department stores near the exit with natural light? I also rotate between this and my Beautycounter Skin Tint and NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint as featured in the tutorial video.
Blush, Contour + Highlight
I typically always do a little bronzer as a contour. For everyday natural makeup looks, I’m loving the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow Face Sculpt + Highlight duo. The color isn’t super crazy saturated and is great for everyday.
I also do love my Bare Minerals bronzer for a more pigmented contour. Then I add a little highlight with the other side of the Filmstar Duo. I sometimes will add in a blush and I rotate between a few. Really whatever I’m feeling that day I think I have about 7 different ones. NARS Orgasm loose powder has been on heavy repeat, but I also love this one from Urban Decay.
Eyes & Brows
My eye makeup routine is pretty consistent. I usually do a cat eye with the Kat Von D tattoo liner. It’s holy grail status. It replaced the Stila one that I swore for years was the best thing ever. Then I prime my lashes with L’oreal Primer and then go in with the L’Oreal mascara in Carbon Black.
I use a different mascara for my bottom lashes (if I bother to do them). A makeup artist once asked me before doing my lashes if my mascara transfers to my under eyes and I said yes all the time. So she recommended MAC Extended Play Gigablack Lash Mascara. It’s a tiny little tube with a tiny spoolie and it’s fantastic. It’s a tubing mascara which really helps with transfer.
Then for eyebrows, I usually use my It Cosmetics Brow Power™ Universal Brow Pencil. It’s seriously THE BEST. Been using it for years. For a more glam look, I do follow this tutorial typically. And for the brows, I like the Anastasia brow gel.
Set It
To set everything I use Laura Mercier’s Translucent Loose Setting Powder. Sometimes I also use the Hourglass Ambient® Lighting Powder under my eyes. It’s supposed to help brighten and illuminate the under eye. No idea if it works, but I do it.
Lip
I love a good lipstick and rarely leave the house without it if I’m doing a full face of makeup. I rotate between several favorites. For a nude lip, I’m loving the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk combo. It really is amazing. I also love the NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment in Don’t Stop. It’s a great red and stays put. Or I rotate through the dozen or so Mary Kay lipsticks I have or a couple of my Beautycounter lipsticks (here are a few favorites).
