One of the benefits to doing the Marie Kondo method in your closet is that you end up with a true capsule of essentials. By removing all the fluff of things I “might wear” or trendy pieces that have expired, you’re left with your tried and true essentials. After having done this several months ago, I’m still pulling things out that don’t spark joy that I thought DID. Funny how that works. What I’ve been left with is truly a closet that feels like a well-curated boutique. One that is easy to pull outfits together and makes getting dressed SO much easier. I’m realizing now too that I have fall closet staples I’m loving that aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.
Fall Closet Staples I’m Loving Right Now
Everyone has their fall closet staples that they love and rotate through. They may be different than mine. Or maybe the same! But after doing my giant closet purge, these are 3 things I’m loving and couldn’t imagine not having in my closet now.
Button Down
A few things I noticed that I kept versus tossed were great quality button-downs. This one from Everlane is truly a closet essential. It’s flattering, it’s silky soft, and sustainable. I think I need to get it in a few more colors! I also just added this one from Sezane to my collection and I love the lapel style neckline versus the classic button-up. Much more flattering in my opinion.
Trench
This classic trench obviously survived my closet clean out. It’s from Abercrombie and Fitch believe it or not. I also may have kept several other coats (as in too many) but maybe I’ll edit those down once winter is over. This camel one also made the cut and it’s a true closet favorite.
Black Stilettos
A great pair of black stilettos, or any pump that you prefer, are a must. They work with business attire, they can be a perfect shoe for an evening wedding, and they go with your favorite jeans too. These Tamara Mellon slingbacks are a splurge, but let me tell you, 100% worth it. Comfortable, cool and classic.
