Transitioning from winter to spring can sometimes be a tricky situation. You want to wear the coats, but it’s warm. You want to wear a fun dress, but it’s too cool out. I have this post on some of my best tips from transitioning from season to season specifically from cool temps to warmer ones.
There’s definitely some easy to follow rules and tips. Ones that make sure you look season-appropriate, while also staying warm (or cool!) with the temps. They’re more go-to tips for the big seasonal style transition this time of year.
One of my most favorite tricks for going from winter to spring is with dresses. You’re dying to wear more dresses and get out of the sweaters and pants rut. Dresses are an easy way to go from season to season. They’re great for layering on pieces to stay warm if you need to. From light jackets or sweaters that can easily be taken off and tied around your waist. Swapping boots for a white sneaker is also an easy way to transition a dress from winter to spring.
With any sort of transitional styling, I like to always keep in mind fabric. It’s just so important to getting the look right! I still would not recommend bringing out your linen or eyelet dresses just yet. Hold off for those warmer months for sure. But you can most definitely take your year-round dresses, or winter dresses, and start easing into the season.

What To Wear With Floral Dresses To Transition Into Spring
A few of my go to pieces to bring dresses out from winter and into spring are light layers, fresh white sneakers like my Reebok’s or Chelsea boots. Chelsea boots and ankle booties are a nice swap from a knee high boot that can also help bring those dresses into spring. Anything to show off a little more skin is usually a good choice when transitioning into spring.

Light Layers + Jackets
Transitioning your dresses into spring is all about a light layer and jacket. Due to the finicky weather this time of year, a jacket is likely necessary. But leave the winter coat in the closet. We’re committing to the new spring jackets here to bring your look into the new season.
Try a long trench coat, or a moto jacket, bonus points for one that is in a fun color, and even lady jackets or denim jackets. A chore jacket is also a great option. There are so many good essential spring jackets you can start to pull out. Here’s my ultimate guide to affordable spring jackets that would be great to pair with your dresses.

Chelsea And Ankle Boots
A shoe option you can try with your dresses are booties. Knee highs are great for minis, but I like an ankle boot or a Dr Martin combat boot this time of year. It shows off a little more skin and is a more spring appropriate shoe choice as we move into the season.

Sneakers
Sneakers are my go-to shoe choice when we’re done with the frigid cold temps and snow. Try pairing your floral spring dresses with a chunky sneaker, or an Adidas Gazelle or Samba, try a platform Converse too. I love all these options with floral dresses. They are spring-appropriate without feeling summery which is what we want to avoid this time of year.
