We’re in that time of year where you can wear your pretty new spring dresses, but sometimes with precaution. Some days are warm and beautiful, while others are still chilly. For that in-between weather, there are some great tips to transition from winter fashion to spring. You can check out a few more of my tips here on how to do just that.
But with a few new spring floral dresses in my closet that I’m eager to wear, I had to share two of my go to ways to style one great dress. It’s all about maximizing your closet too. This dress can be worn easily year round thanks to the print and fabric being so versatile.
Ways To Style A Spring Floral Mini Dress
A spring floral mini dress is a closet staple in my mind. And one that can be worn all year round when it’s in the right fabric, fit and colorways. And this dress honestly nails it. You can also do this with a maxi dress too and still create the same looks! Starting with a great base is key. I look for dresses that are in the following fabrics that can work year round. Cotton, poly-blends and viscose or silk are great. Avoid super lacey dresses, or anything that has eyelet or seersucker because that just screams summer and is less versatile. And keep in mind the print. Floral dresses really can be worn year round even if you lean into more winter florals for summer. But maybe avoid tropical print dresses that feel like a warm weather vacation for this.
For each season, add in the layers you love the most. For fall or winter, it can be boots and booties, cozy long cardigans, leather jackets and even tights. Add in heavier knits to stay warm and layer up. In the spring and summer, lighten things up with a light jacket, sneaker or sandal, and embrace bare legs!
Styled For Fall
This little spring floral mini dress which has all of my favorite colors in it, easily can help you go from cooler temps to sunny days. For chillier days, I paired this dress with a cozy cardigan and booties. The simplest way to mix your winter staples with new spring essentials. You could also add a cozy sweater over top instead of a cardigan to turn this dress into a skirt. Or if you’re like me, add a denim jacket (it’s my go-to for outfits!).
Either way, by keeping my winter to spring tips in mind, you’ll easily transition pieces from season to season while looking great. A few essential tips to remember, keep the wool coat at home when wearing your spring dresses. That’s what great cardigans are for! And let’s maybe not wear sandals JUST yet. Unless you’re in Florida or California I suppose. But slowly easing into the next season is what it’s all about.
Styled For Spring
For spring and summer styling, I lean into light layers. Perfect for the chillier mornings and also just adding a third piece. I’m always reaching for a light denim jacket or utility jacket. They’re the perfect addition and don’t get you too too hot. Add in a summer sneaker, I go for a platform Converse, but Keds work too or Supergas. You can also go for a leather sneaker like these Madewell Trainers, Vejas or Golden Goose too.
If a sneaker isn’t your thing, swap for a fun sandal or espadrille. They’re perfect for spring and summer and make any dress feel season-appropriate. I love these espadrilles from Castaner and also anything from Marc Fisher usually.
My Versatile Dress Picks
Some of the best dresses in my closet are the ones I can get the most use out of. From season to season, or just even occasion to occasion. Below are some of my favorite dresses that you can maximize the use out of and style for seasons and years to come.
