There’s been only two constants in my home after living here for 8 years (woah that’s a long time). It was the office wall and my bookshelves and dining area. The rest of the home has changed drastically, sometimes more than once, over the last few years. Between new paint, new accessories, new kitchen, new rugs and pillows, these two spaces never changed. I’m content with my bookshelves and dining space for now. Which just means I don’t know what on earth to do that space anyway to make it new and different. But the office wall with the floating shelves (you can see my office tour here from two years ago) was ready for an overhaul. The items on them no longer matched my home, the floating shelves were starting to feel dated to me, and the chair in the corner is as old as I am. So I thought of what I could do to this area without making my life difficult, spending a ton of money, or taking on a huge project. Solution? Gallery wall.
Gallery Wall Ideas
I’ve been envying gallery walls quite a bit lately as they overwhelm my Pinterest feed and seem to be popular to add to your home. Before I picked anything out, I knew I wanted to stick with a certain color palette which were navys and blues. I thought they’d compliment the rest of my home and wouldn’t be too bright, or bold. Then I headed to Minted.com to pick out a few things and decided on this pretty print and a few other fun ones.

Personally, I love when a gallery wall also has a few sentimental pieces in it. This is is why I headed to Framebridge to print up a few of my favorite Instagrams of all time. Like the one of me and Cathy at the ACM awards, and this pretty Georgetown house my sister and I spotted on our sister trip to DC last summer. I also had this fun pineapple piece of art that I made while in San Destin last year with some blogger gals. Another fun thing to do with a gallery wall is to add some texture to it. I did that wth a little deer head and this heart marquee. It was the perfect way to round out the gallery wall.
The wall is perfectly balanced in my opinion with having the lamp on one side, and more weight on the other with the prints. I can always add to it and fill up the wall as I discover new pieces of art. I also found this great bench which was perfect to replace the bulky chair with. It’s already acting as a great spot to lay out outfits before a trip or a shoot. I also finally got rid of my last piece of Ikea and replaced my $20 rug with this pretty cream and grey one from Rugs USA. Pork approves (watch this cute Instagram video for proof!)
