A little over 9 years ago I came home one day from my first job out of college miserable as ever. I plopped myself down on my couch and thought I might just try this fashion blog thing. I had posted an outfit photo to my Facebook wall to ask how this one particular look got me reprimanded for the dress code at work. It’s what sparked the start of it all. It was time to take those photos, and conversation, and start a blog.
Staring at GoDaddy to choose a domain name, I had no idea what to call it. I knew I wanted to share my style and tips to make all parts of your life more stylish. That was my “elevator pitch” if you will. To add a personal touch to it, I thought it could be cool to have an Italian word in there since I am Italian of course. Vita means life in Italian, so I thought I’d go with it. My Style Vita. I bought the domain for ten bucks and started playing around on Blogger. Without a clue on what I was doing, I just went for it. And loved every second of it.
9 years later…
Over the years, My Style Vita has opened doors I didn’t even know were possible. As a young girl looking through magazines and obsessing over fashion and shopping, I never knew I’d get to do some of the things I’ve done. There were the pinch-me moments of walking into the L’Oreal offices in New York City to chat sponsorships. Or stepping into the tents at NYFW and finding my seat (in the back row of course) at a show to watch the latest fall styles walk down the runway. But I did. And I still pinch myself anytime it happens. I will never take it for granted.
My Style Vita not only gave me the ability to do things I love like writing, learning more about fashion and beauty, but it also gave me so much more. Some of my best friendships were born from this blog. Memories have been made to last a lifetime. Cities were explored that I never would’ve thought to visit. And even a new business was launched out of it all, The Blog Societies. Without My Style Vita, none of these would have been my reality and I can’t imagine my life without these people, and memories, in them.
This blog has also given me the confidence to start my own business and build onto it. I’ll never approach a project or obstacle without a level of confidence I would not have gained anywhere else. The thing I always tell anyone who’s scared to start something will always be “just start”. Because it’s what I did and it wasn’t that scary once you got started. It’s the best thing I’ve learned in 9 years. That, and to be authentic.
But I’ve hit a breaking point.
It’s time to say goodbye to My Style Vita. It’s been 9 years of building this blog and business. And I am thankful for every moment of it. Every blog post, every Instagram post (even those awful first years) and every single hour I spent on it. It was worth it. But I am now 33, and no longer that lost, depressed young woman sitting on her couch trying to find a creative outlet and her purpose. Instead, I’m a confident creative business owner who wants to elevate this brand to what it was not ever fully capable of being before.
So it’s time to close the chapter and start a new one.
The My Style Vita name will live in the past, but I’m looking forward to a new day. An Indigo Day. The new future of my blog. A grown-up website that better suits my personal style. Plus, an improved experience for my readers. A brand that inspires you to elevate your life to make sure each day is An Indigo Day. With easy to tackle, practical tips and inspiration that help to effortlessly elevate your life.
This type of content is already living on the blog and will only be expanded on more. From my tips to styling those white jeans a few more ways than you thought were possible. Maybe even organizing your closet to make it a more peaceful space to start your morning. And also helping to guide you through the holidays with ease from shopping to cooking and entertaining. And let’s not forget my little hacks like the epic espadrille hack and dealing with shedding pampas grass.
I just want to show you things don’t have to be complicated or fussy. They’re easy to do and you can make your day feel a little more special with a few simple tips, tricks or whatever you want to call them. And that feeling you have when your life is just a little more put-together from a small tip or two, to me, is what An Indigo Day is.
That feeling you have when your life is just a little more put-together, is what An Indigo Day is.
More to come on how I got to An Indigo Day as I know many of you thought the new name might have actually ended up being Elevated Everyday. I’ll be sharing more on that when the new website launches shortly.
Subscribe below so you’ll be the first to know when the new website goes live! I can’t wait to show it to you.
Before I fully say goodbye, thank you for being a reader, a follower, a supporter. Thanks for allowing My Style Vita to be what it was, and to allow it to become something better. I would not have had the confidence to make this momentous change without knowing you’d be there along the way.
