Ever since I got my hands on my first ever Grayson Hero shirt a few years back, I’ve been hooked. I feel like a good button-up shirt is one of those things that can be so hard to shop for. And when you find a brand that finally fits you, you embrace it. And the brand Grayson knew this going into creating this universally flattering button-up shirt. This brand is only two years old and only launched back in 2019 with the idea of providing women with the essential button-up that they’ll love. And they nailed it.
The Grayson Artist Shirt Dress Review
Now that they’ve been around for a couple of years and have clearly mastered a great button-up shirt, they’re getting into dresses! I love a good button-up shirt dress for how easy they are to throw on and go. Easy complete outfits. The Artist short sleeve dress in 100% tumbled linen is their first-ever dress. I quickly tried it on and shared it on Instagram Stories and you all LOVED it. It’s insanely soft too and so damn comfortable. Finally wanted to share my review of it now that I’ve worn it several times and find myself reaching for it more and more.
The Fit
The fit of this shirt dress is the reason why I love it so much. I find a shirt dress can be tricky sometimes. So unflattering, oversized and like a big potato sac. And yes, this is sort of that, but there’s also something about the sleeves and the hem and the waist that actually feels like a flattering potato sac. Is that possible? I just don’t feel like a total slob in this and that tends to be how I feel in shirt dresses unless they’re belted.
And I’m not sure how they do it, but the collar is just oh so flattering. I always find button-ups to be a bit weird around my neckline and never love the look of them. But this one is tailored perfectly that’s flattering. So much so, that they have it listed out in the product details.

Is It True To Size
My usual size in their classic Grayson Hero button-ups is a size 02. The sizes start at 01 and go up to 05. I’m a 32DD and usually take a small or medium in most tops and dresses. When it came to this dress, I went with my usual size. It’s definitely oversized and I kind of wished I sized down. The website does advise to size down. So keep that in mind when ordering.
The Artist shirt dress does not come in petite and I’d say it’s a tad on the longer side. I think sizing down would’ve been better for the length as well. But you can probably hem this pretty easily if you need to.
How I Style The Grayson Artist Shirt Dress
As soon as I got this dress in the mail, I instantly paired it with my go-to summer white sneaker, platform Converse. It’s the perfect combination for an easy casual look for the weekend. But I also tried to dress it up a bit with my nude Castañer espadrilles and loved the more summery and feminine look. Come fall, this would be perfect with a Chelsea boot and leather jacket for that in-between weather when you can still get away with wearing linen. And since the linen is a bit heavier and not sheer at all, you can probably get away with it well into early fall!
