Hairstyle trends come and go, and there are always a few standout styles every few years. And ones we’re kind of leaving behind. While hairstyles are so personal to your face shape, the type of hair you have and also the kind of life you may lead, there are still some big trends we may want to try. It’s amazing what a good haircut and hairstyle can do though for your confidence and your look. A good haircut and more importantly, good color, can make you look young and on trend in 2023. It’s also nice to switch up your hairstyle every few years.
I’m someone who prefers to have short hair. It suits my face shape and my hair just looks nicer this way. But having short hair can mean so many different styles. So every few years, I do find myself adjusting my short bob to match the trends. It also makes me feel like I have a whole new look which can be helpful if you maintain a similar length (and color). Here are some of my favorite 2023 hair trends to try that are super popular right now.
10 Hairstyles for 2023
Short Blunt Bob
Sign me up! I love the new Hailey Bieber super short and blunt bob that she recently cut in 2023. She’s been styling it with a slight bend or curl in it, but not a true full curl. Which is another hair trend to note. This look is a much more organic and relaxed feeling, versus perfectly undone curls.
We’re seeing this styled straight or super curly to embrace those natural curls or with this effortless bend. I also love a short bob thrown up into a half top knot for an easy way to style.
Try Curtain Bangs
The ultimate update that feels totally fresh without having to do too much to the rest of your hair. I know what you’re thinking, bangs?! We swore off bangs! But curtain bangs are easier to grow out if god forbid you absolutely hate them. You’ll want to round brush these to get that fabulous curl to frame your face.
The Updated Rachel
The 90’s haircuts are in, but what we’re not doing is the original Rachel. This can give you a hardcore flip with the bottom layer, and the top layer curling under, almost like a jellyfish vibe. This longer layered U shape haircut has face framing layers and longer layers throughout to avoid the horrible flip. This medium length haircut can easily be air-dried for that tousled look thanks to all the layers. Or pop a few bends in it with a curling iron after you blow it out to give it some texture.
90’s Mid Length Hair With Big Curls
The Matilda Djerf haircut I feel like is the epitome of 2023 hair trends. The curtain bang, the mid length 90’s vibe, the big loose curls thanks to a good round brush blowout (or hot rollers If you so dare to try). If you’re thinking about how to use a curling wand with this, you may want to try a large barrel and also set it with rollers.
French Bob
The French Bob is such a good cut. It’s a tousled shorter jaw length bob with bangs. This style is perfect if you have naturally wavy hair so you can let it air dry for that perfectly imperfect tousled look. My hairstylist said she’s getting asked a lot for a variation of this thanks to Lucia from White Lotus who rocked a slightly longer version of this in the hit show.
The Wolf Lob
The Wolf lob is really just the new version of the classic shag haircut. This trend has taken over TikTok. It’s a commitment because if you hate it, growing it out is going to be a royal pain. It’s lots of shorter wispier layers throughout for a truly shaggy look. You can do a short shag or even a medium to a longer length. This cut can truly be tailored to any hair length. It’s just all about the layers.
The Middle Part
Gen Z has made us all question our deep side part. Okay, maybe the really deep one had to go a few years ago. But even a normal side part is feeling a tad off sometimes if it isn’t associated with the right cut. Say hello to the middle part. Which looks really great with that long haired 70’s vibe, or a sleek short bob like Kourtney Kardashian.
And yes, I get it, not every face shape looks great with a middle part. Fear not, you don’t HAVE to commit to this one. But it’s a fun way to switch things up and freshen up your look.
Honey Blonde
Between Kim Kardashian and Rosie Huntington, honey blonde is a stunning hair color to try for 2023. Just warmer honey tones seem to be a big trend. Instead of bright bright blonde with 2010 curls, it’s toned down a bit and feels a little more natural and rich.
Indie Sleaze Waves
These aren’t quite flat iron waves, and not quite beach waver waves. Instead, these feel like the french braids you’d put in your damp hair at night before bed in hopes to wake up with the perfect wave for school the next day. I think you can probably recreate this with the right size beach waver though like this one.
These waves would be so fun to style with cute half up half down braid hairstyles like this. Let that textured hair run wild with texture spray and sea salt spray.
Yes, A Side Part
I don’t want to throw you through a loop here, but just like how fashion trends seem to have a WIDE range, so do hairstyles. Yes, you can still rock a side part. And I love it with this soft wave, almost like a 20’s inspired look.
