Fun fact: I’m a major snacker, you guys. I have been known to only eat breakfast and just graze and snack the rest of the day. It can not only be a bad habit, but I find myself reaching for bad things, too. Oh you know, like ice cream and chips and such. Since I’ve been on more of a health kick lately, I thought this would be a good time to chat all things snacks. I recently started back at CrossFit (doing the all girls classes this time, no more crazy lifting for me) and have really enjoyed it. But the diet is always something I will struggle with. Today I’m sharing three ways I’m snacking smarter.
First, fresh fruit. I don’t have a huge sweet tooth, but I do have a small one. So having fresh fruit around is always a better choice than grabbing ice cream, chocolate, or candy. I like to keep things like berries, watermelon, and apples on hand. They’re easy to eat and can be fairly filling. Personally, I love a sliced apple with some cinnamon sprinkled on top of it. It’s like dessert!
Second, sparkling flavored waters. From the fresh fruity flavor that satisfies my sweet tooth to the bubbles that help make me feel full, these are always smart to keep on hand. I like to keep a variety of flavors from sweet ones to more refreshing ones, like lemon or lime.
Lastly, these new Snyder’s of Hanover Wholey Cheese! Crackers. I don’t have a huge sweet tooth, but I have HUGE savory one. I die for all things salty and cheesy. This is a brand new snack on the market, and I have tried all three flavors and can’t stop devouring them. They’re light and crisp and full of flavor. In today’s post, I’m devouring the Smoked Gouda flavor. The puffed and airy cracker has fun little holes in it too, making them extra light. They’re also a snack you can feel better about than most others. They’re gluten-free with no preservatives and only have 130 calories per serving. I did the math: you can eat the whole bag, and it’s only 650 calories. I mean, considering I’ll devour one bag in fewer than two days, it’s a snack I can feel pretty good about.
