One of the coolest things about Hawaii, and we saw this a lot on the Big Island, were the unique plants and trees that we just don’t see anywhere else on the mainland. Or anywhere for that matter. We did a 12-hour volcano tour one day with Hawaii Trail + Forest and our tour guide Peter taught us so much about the endemic and indigenous plants. We’ve obviously all seen Hibiscus before, it’s the state flower of Hawaii of course. But we saw trees, bushes, plants, flowers and more that we will only see while on this trip.
While having a late lunch at Mama’s Fish House before heading to Twin Falls, we stumbled onto the most gorgeous Hibiscus tree right next to my FAVORITE tree, bougainvillea (a tree I fell in love with while in Greece). I had to snap a photo, it was a must. I’ll be honest about Mama’s Fish House though as it came highly recommended and was nearly impossible to get a reservation. It’s great, the fish is beyond fresh, but that’s kind of everywhere on the islands. It was super overpriced for what it was. The property was beautiful though which is why we spent so much time walking around snapping photos everywhere. But I would say it’s not a must visit. Honestly, the poké I had at the liquor store, yes you read that right, more to come in this week’s Postcards From, was just as great.
So I’d love to know, what’s your favorite flower? I thought mine were tulips, but after seeing these stunning hibiscus flowers everywhere (and plumerias) I’m starting to rethink my go to flowers.
PS This dress is from Aerie and it was so comfy and affordable. American Eagle has an amazing spring and summer collection happening right now and I’ve rounded up my favorites below. I’m currently eyeing this striped romper and this red beauty!
