This post was written in partnership with Hotel Indigo and InterContinental Hotels Group. All opinions and views are my own.
One of my favorite hotels to stay at while in New York City is this modern, cool and edgy spot in the Lower East Side. A neighborhood I never visited (except for a bagel at Russ & Daughters) and it has quickly become my favorite spot. So if you’re visiting the city, you have to check out Hotel Indigo Lower East Side. It was a DREAM. And yes, the above photo was the view from our floor-to-ceiling windows in our rooms. Not too bad, right?
I’ve stayed at InterContinental Hotels Group hotels in the past and have always enjoyed my stays. This one was definitely a personal favorite from rooftop views, great cocktails at Mr. Purple, spacious rooms (unheard of in NYC) and incredible staff. Here’s a look at our wonderful stay and experience at Hotel Indigo Lower East Side and why you should book it the next time you’re in NYC.
The Hotel Indigo Lower East Side, A Must For Your Next Visit To NYC
The Rooms
NYC hotel rooms are notorious for being insanely small. Don’t remind me of the time that I totally shared a double bed with my sister and brother-in-law in the tiniest hotel room ever. Fail. These rooms were spacious, with a cool, edgy modern vibe to them. The beds were insanely comfortable and the bathrooms were GORGEOUS. Check out that beautiful tile! I also loved the little details like the leather “bar cart” and spray paint can cocktail shaker. The attention to detail to hone in on their street art vibe was perfection.
I’ve now gone back to this hotel again but with friends. And it is probably one of the only hotels I’ve found in NYC that has the option of two QUEEN beds. Yes, you read that right. Most hotel rooms just do two double beds and honestly, as an adult, I’m not thrilled with anything less than a queen. Especially when sharing a room with several friends. I loved that this was an option and gave us lots of extra space in what is typically teeny tiny hotel rooms in the city.
The Location
I’ve never stayed in the Lower East Side before but was excited to experience a new neighborhood. It’s actually where Cathy once lived so I was pretty pumped to see her old stomping grounds. It’s also just steps away from one of my must visit spots, Russ & Daughters. You can’t visit NYC and NOT get a bagel and lox from there. We also headed to Cafe Medi just two blocks over for dinner (you can see that post here). Hannah and I also grabbed vegan ice cream at Van Leeuwen. The LES is a super hip part of town with lots of great restaurants and nightlife. It was also not super far from shopping in SOHO which is always a plus.
But more importantly, the location was ideal because our hotel was right next to a subway station. We could easily get around town without having to always hail a cab (which I can’t stand). I’m all about the subway life. We’d grab a coffee at the coffee shop in the lobby and head out the door in the morning. I could get used to this!
Amenities & Service
From the moment we walked up to the front door at Hotel Indigo to the moment we left, the service was top notch here. The (very handsome) gentlemen who were always on top of handling opening the doors, hailing a cab, grabbing our luggage and the like were always ready to provide killer service. Bartenders at Mr. Purple were fun (say hi to my friend Jon when you’re there, no really he’s a friend from Atlanta!) to the barista whipping up our morning lattes. Everyone was on top of it!
The amenities at the hotel are also great. I personally got in a workout one morning at their gym to help balance out all the bagels. We also enjoyed the incredible views at the outdoor pool deck on the 15th floor. If you want to get a little work done, the lobby was full of community tables to work from. There were also computers to print, fax and the like if you needed to get some last minute things out. It felt like a great co-work space that I could spend a few hours at to knock out some emails.
Mr. Purple
I couldn’t come to Hotel Indigo LES and not head to Mr. Purple. For one, because I love a good rooftop cocktail situation, but two, my friend Jon works there! I had to say hello! We headed up there before sunset to grab a quick snack and drink. We ordered the hummus plate (below), gorgeous, right? And also a couple of fun cocktails like their signature Mr. Purple which was a tequila-based drink with cranberry liquor and allspice. At night, this beautiful bar was packed with even more beautiful people enjoying good music and cocktails. A must-visit whether you stay at the hotel or not!
If you’re heading to New York City or anywhere really, be sure to check out InterContinental Hotels Group options. They are literally ALL over the world so you can definitely find one just about anywhere your wanderlust takes you. Hotel indigos are always stylish hotels that appeal to me personally with their boutique hotel vibe. But there are tons of other options to choose from. I’ve personally stayed at Kimpton hotels in Philadelphia and Crown Plazas across the country. But if you’re heading to NYC, I can’t recommend this hotel enough. Book your stay at Hotel Indigo Lower East Side right here.
