For the longest time I didn’t understand how to dress comfortably for the airport and still look cute all at the same time. I’m usually a leggings, tee, sports bra and sneakers kind of girl for the airport. I’ll never really understand how people get all dressed up, wear heels and even a full face of makeup. It isn’t really conducive to a solid nap on the plane which is usually my ultimate goal. Sure on long haul flights, this is totally acceptable (you can read about how to pack and dress properly for super long trips here). But when you’ve got a 2-5 hour flight where you can’t really change, shower and get your act together once you arrive, it’s important to dress somewhat cute. But also keep comfort in mind.
TIPS TO DRESSING CUTE BUT COMFY AT THE AIRPORT
One of my favorite ways to dress cute and comfortable while flying on these shorter flights is to implement a few rules. Even just adding one of these to your routine will help you feel and look a little more put together, making getting off the plane and straight to playing tourist a little easier.
Wear A Third Piece
A lightweight field jacket, blazer or denim jacket will do! This pulls any look together instantly plus will keep you warm on those freezing airplanes.
Cute Sneakers
I’m a big fan of Adidas or Vans. Luckily they’re in fashion now so they make any look instantly cooler.
Just Enough Makeup
Don’t need to go all out, but a little tinted moisturizer, blush and a pop of lip color goes a long long way.
Stylish Backpack
I switch between my Everlane one or my new Alternative Apparel navy backpack. To be honest, I can’t imagine traveling without one now.
I have to admit, I wore this entire look basically all month on every flight in some capacity. I pretty much switched up my tee and different sneakers for each look. But this Topshop field jacket was the best piece ever. On my way to Dallas last week, I wore this look with my Marc Fisher wedges. Before you roll your eyes at me for wearing a heel, they’re insanely comfortable and I can walk miles in them. It let me easily drop all my bags at my hotel and meet up with friends without having to change. Because #priorities. There was champagne and lots of catching up to do with friends.
