I’ve done my fair share of meat and cheese boards here on the blog over the years. From my best tips to curating one for a wine and cheese night, to gameday dips to include for a board. But I thought with all the great holiday candy out right now, why not make a fun holiday “charcuterie” board? What a fun way to serve some sweets for your guests this holiday season. It also makes a great addition to any dessert bar you may be hosting!
How to Make A Holiday Candy Charcuterie Board
No matter which holiday or occasion you’re making a candy charcuterie board, you’ll want to keep a few of these tips in mind. Let’s just say, it’s easy as can be and so much fun to put together. Your guests will love it! So have fun with it! One of the reasons why I love this too, is because it’s so easy to have a growing pile of treats, candies and cookies come the holiday season. This is a great way to use it all up when you have some guests over. No way will I ever make it through a big tin of Williams Sonoma’s peppermint bark.
Pick A Theme
Picking a theme will definitely help get our candy board going in the right direction and make it a little easier. Obviously, today’s is a true Christmas holiday board with popular goodies like peppermint bark and Christmas tree marshmallows for hot chocolate. But a few other fun themes could be movie theatre candy such as Junior Mints (my favorite) Milk Duds, Sour Patch and so on. Or you can go all chocolate sharing various white, milk and dark chocolate favorites. Or go fruity and summery. Even sticking to a color scheme could be fun! The ideas are endless!
Varying Textures
I love the idea of having a mix of textures. This board has melt-in-your-mouth chocolate, strawberry chews, hard peppermint candy ribbons and crunchy popcorn as well as cookies. Having a mix of treats is ideal to keep everyone happy and to make your board more interesting.
Different Flavors
Not EVERYONE loves the same candy as you do. With that in mind, definitely choose a variety of flavors that work within your theme. This board has sweet, rich, salty and spicy. Whether someone loves a good spice cookie or a peppermint twist, or classic chocolate, it’s all here!
Don’t Forget A Beverage
No matter what you’re hosting, if there’s a charcuterie board of any kind, don’t forget a beverage! For a fun cocktail that works with this board, try my spiked hot chocolate or my winter wonderland cocktail. They work with the theme and are perfect for this time of year.
