I have always been someone who has quite a bit of jewelry. Especially back in my early 2010’s days when life was all about the statement necklaces, and chunky Kendra Scott earrings. So I had a treasure trove of colorful jewelry.
I always was a fan of the standing jewelry box, a big statement piece that doubled as a mirror while it held all my jewelry. I think mine was a rotating one and it had 3 panels of jewelry storage and then the fourth was shelves. It was, a lot. But I needed a really great jewelry organization solution and it did the job!
Keeping your jewelry collection organized and contained is ideal to keep it from getting scratched, and keep them dust-free. And also just makes it easier to find the pieces you want. You can get really creative in how you store your jewelry or go really classic and simple.
Depending on how much jewelry you have will determine the type of jewelry organizer you may want to choose. For those of you with a ton of jewelry, a larger jewelry case like I used to have may be it. Or if you’re more paired down (which is how I feel I am now) a simple box or two may work. Here are a few organization ideas for your jewelry and my favorite jewelry organizer types to try.

How To Organize Jewelry
Edit Your Jewelry
Before you even start to organize your jewelry collection, it’s best to edit things down. Go through your pieces and purge any items you’re no longer wearing. Or maybe some pieces need to be serviced so you can wear them. Just like you would edit and purge your closet before organizing, and also fix any hems or buttons, you should do the same for your jewelry.
If you have old diamonds that you aren’t wearing, you may want to think about what to do with old diamonds like turning them into something new. And if you just have old jewelry you don’t know what to do with, here are some ideas!
Editing your items down is something that is part of the Marie Kondo organization method. And by starting out on the right foot, you’ll keep your pieces organized over time so everything has its place.
Store Similar Items Together
Just like our closets where we put denim with denim, sweaters with sweaters, we want to put like with like when storing jewelry. Store similar items together. And also categories. If you have a lot of costume jewelry that you only wear on occasion, keep those together so they aren’t taking up valuable space from your everyday pieces and storage solution.
And same with seasonal items. Those woven and rattan earings aren’t going to be worn in the dead of winter. Keep those stored away if you need the space.
Display Your Most Worn Items Or Statement Pieces
I’m anti-displaying any jewelry because it collects dust, but if you have a piece you really love and want to display it, or the items you wear every day so you can easily grab them every morning, displaying them can be a good option. I’d still keep in mind that you don’t want pieces all rubbing together in a dish as they can scratch one another.

Use An Organizer
And of course, use a proper organization system to store your jewelry that works for you. Everyone and every home will have a preferred method of storing your necklaces, bracelets, rings and things.
Jewelry organizers help keep things from getting tangled versus throwing them in a drawer or tray without any way to keep things separated. Below are some great jewelry organizer options to display and store all of your jewelry.
12 Jewelry Organizers
Jewelry Box Organizer
I am partial to the box organizer. This helps to contain the items and also keep them from getting dusty. Choose a pretty jewelry box organizer to keep on your nightstand or dresser that matches your decor. Or if you have tons of jewelry, and a closet or armoire to store it in, you can go more simple with your jewelry box organizer and store them that way.
There are so many options and sizes to choose from. From ones with several shallow drawers, to a more simple option like my black one featured above that’s just one level (an old box from CB2, similar options linked below). I like that these all have velvet linings to protect your jewelry.
Hanging Jewelry Organizer
If you have some wall space, or a back of a door to utilize, try hanging organizers for your jewelry. Some wall mounted jewelry organizers are more decorative than others, but these can be a nice way to store items on your walls if you are limited on space.
You can even try decorative wall mounted hooks to create your own set up. You can add a few pieces of art, or a mirror to create a pretty vignette in your room. And get creative! Hooks are a great way to store those long necklaces too.
If you can’t find a wall organizer you like, try a cute wall cabinet like this and add boxes and organizers to the inside. Make it a little DIY wall organizer to fit your jewelry storage needs.
Over The Door Jewelry Organizer
Similar to the jewelry cabinets, some of them also transform to an over the door option with a couple of over the door hooks. Perfect for small spaces trying to maximize your storage. Bonus points for the mirror style ones so you can have an extra mirror and store the jewelry safely inside to keep them dust free.
Jewelry Busts
If you have a special piece or two, try a jewelry bust to display a couple of necklaces. My grandmother had one of these really cool mannequin heads that she stores a few necklaces and a pair of sunglasses on. It was a fun way to incorporate decor and display a few pieces.
You can also try the cute ring holders with the hand figurines. These are a fun and quirky way to display your rings and keep them within reach.

Jewelry Stand Organizer
Probably one of the most common options is a jewelry stand organizer. There are so many options to choose from. From big contraptions that hold dozens of pieces of varying jewelry styles, to more simple ones that only hold a few items.
A jewelry stand organizer can be a great way to add to your decor and keep the items you wear all the time within reach. And some of them even come with mirrors making putting on your earrings and things a breeze.
Jewelry Drawer Organizers
If you have an extra drawer to use for jewelry storage, try these jewelry storage trays to keep things tidy. You can stack a few of them to maximize your space too. Whether you have shallow drawers, or deep ones, you can mix and match the stackable drawer organizers to create something that works for your unique jewelry collection.
When choosing a stackable jewelry trays, I would opt for velvet lined ones versus acrylic. This will keep your jewelry looking its best over time.
Jewelry Cabinet And Armoires
These cabinets are perfect if you have an empty wall that could use a piece of furniture. I love the idea of making it a cute vignette in a corner with a pretty print over it, and a lamp to the side. Make it work with your decor and choose one that fits your style. These have drawers going up and down, and also typically have side cabinets that open out to hang longer items like long necklaces.
Standing Mirror Jewelry Organizers
A standing mirror jewelry organizer will kill two birds with one stone. If you need a full length mirror in your bedroom, use this as a dual functioning piece of furniture. I actually really like the one that spins so you can use the back of it for other storage like perfume, more jewelry and even sunglasses.
Foldable Jewelry Organizers
If you just have a few things and want to keep them tucked away, and double as a travel organizer, try a foldable jewelry organizer. These are soft fabric organizers that you can roll up with your jewelry. They’re perfect to keep your jewelry safe while traveling and come in a variety of sizes.
Jewelry Trays And Trinket Boxes
A few other jewelry storage ideas are to keep your favorite or most worn pieces out in pretty jewelry trays or trinket boxes. I am partial to ones that have lids to them to keep dust away, but depending on how frequently you wear the items, or how often you enjoy cleaning dust, try one of these jewelry trays or jewelry trinket boxes.
Jewelry Dishes
A small jewelry dish or trinket bowl is perfect for sitting near your sink as well for when you wash your hands and want to contain your most loved pieces. And they’re perfect for placing on your bedside table so you aren’t sleeping in your jewelry which helps to extend the life of them.
Jewelry Tiered Organizers
A tiered organizer is a great way to store and organize your jewelry. These look so nice on a dresser or a nightstand to keep your favorite pieces readily available. So many fun and cute ones to choose from. From open dishes to tiered stackable options that have lids. Try one of these with a dish, or bust to create a jewelry corner on your dresser.
If you have some jewelry you want to store and get organized, one of these jewelry organizers are sure to be the winner. Keep your jewelry looking its best and dust free with these organizers for your home.
