A camel coat is truly a closet staple that you’ll have for years. We see them come back into style every year for fall and winter. And while the style of the coat may start to evolve and change every few years, it’s a safe bet that a camel coat will always be in style in some capacity.
I am partial to a longer camel coat. The longer the better in my book. They feel chic, effortless and more timeless. And I also really love a blazer coat for fall. Having one of those in a camel color is a great neutral to have on hand in your closet.
A camel coat really does go with just about every damn thing in your closet. It’s hard to come up with an outfit that it doesn’t work with. But here are some outfit ideas to inspire you. This is how to style a camel coat for fall and winter.
How To Style A Camel Coat
Choose A Length You Like
I really love a super long coat. One that hits mid calf if not longer. I think this helps to elongate your look and creates a beautiful long line to your outfit.
Another option is to try a blazer coat length. While you can do any length in-between these two, I think a nice Millennial fashion update is to try the longer option. I’ve had mine for about five years and it still feels in style and classic all at the same time.
Fabric Matters If You Want To Be Warm
When deciding on what fabric to get, it’s going to depend on where you live. If you’re in the Northeast or Midwest and encounter harsh winters, you will want to ensure you’re paying attention to the fabric composition. More wool is best. And having it lined will also be a big help in keeping you warm.
If you live in a cool climate, or just want more options for different weather days, try a thinner camel coat. Don’t need to worry about it being lined or how much wool is in it.
Camel Coat Styles And Silhouettes
There are also different camel coat styles and silhouettes to choose from. This all depends on your personal style. You can go more tailored and classic in a topcoat silhouette, or a slightly oversized edgier fit with wider lapels.
There are single breasted options, double-breasted, belted or not belted. More structured fits, to more robe and relaxed fits. All of this really depends on your personal style and what suits your wardrobe. And where you plan on wearing these coats.

8. Floral Mini Dress and Ankle Booties
Throw a camel coat over your favorite little floral fall dress and boots. This is the perfect topper. When it’s colder out, I reach for my longer length camel coat. But in the warm fall days of the south, I opt for my shorter blazer coat.
