WAYF Slip Dress (on sale) c/o • Express Cardigan • Welden Bag • BP Mules • Lipstick in L’Oréal Matte Mandate
There have been a few of the 90s trends that I’ve been able to get on board with. The oversized denim jacket (like this one), the plaid shirt wrapped around the waist (guilty of that always) and obviously the Adidas (PS 6 ways to wear Adidas). One 90’s trend I hadn’t quite mastered was the slip dress. I’ve had a hard time finding one I liked that didn’t make me feel a little like I was wearing a nightie, or going to the club. Then this black one from WAYF arrived and it was perfection. I knew I had to figure out how to style a slip dress immediately!
I think the heavier fabric weight is what was key here. It’s not super thin and silky, so it’s a lot more flattering and easier to wear in my opinion. As in, no need for Spanx! When thinking of how to style a slip dress for me that felt casual yet still effortless and chic, was simple! Cardigan and easy mules! By topping it with this long grandma cardigan and simple mules, this little dress easily can be worn from day to night. Next time I wear it will be super casual with Adidas and a denim jacket (or my new leather one). A simple slip dress is truly something I now think every closet should have. A few other ideas on how to style a slip dress can be adding a white blazer and a nude pump for an elevated look. Or for something more simpler, a monochromatic black topcoat and flat black bootie for fall.
I have to say though, the one 90s trend I don’t think I can get behind are the brightly colored, striped ribbed sweaters. They just make me cringe! Throw in the mock neck and you’ve got yourself my least favorite fashion item of all time. But here’s a funny find as I was researching 90’s trends, remember these shoes?! God I loved those so freaking much. What was your favorite 90’s trend?
