If there’s one type of jacket you buy this fall and winter, let it be this. A quilted one. This trend is absolutely everywhere. And no, this isn’t your quilted Barbour jacket that you wear to go skiing. This is a fashion jacket. Very different. Instead of the fitted silhouette that you may lean into, it’s all about the more oversized fit.
It’s no secret that the styles have drastically changed in the last 10 years. What we loved back in the early 2010s now feels dated. And the same now goes for a quilted jacket. Say hello to more oversized pieces. Frankie Shop I think was the first to put this out and I can tell you it has taken over the streets of Europe. It is absolutely everywhere. So let’s chat about how to style this new fun outerwear piece.
How To Style An Oversized Quilted Jacket
Pair With Leggings or Straight Leg Jeans
Since this is quite oversized and has absolutely zero shape, we want to create balance. And that always means something more fitted on the bottom. You can do a faux leather legging, dare I say a skinny jean, and a slim straight leg jean. This will help to create some proportion so you don’t feel like your clothes are taking over your entire body.

Shoes To Wear With An Oversized Quilted Jacket
Since I’m reaching for leggings or a more slim straight leg jean, I’m going to go a little chunky on the bottom if I can. For this outfit, I went with my Sezane lug sole boots. These are similar too. A knee high lug sole would also be cool like this. And if you just want to do a sneaker, that works too. Any cool and slightly chunky sneaker would be perfect to balance this all out.

I went with the Mango quilted jacket and it comes in a few colors. For sizing, I took my usual size small that I typically grab for their jackets. You can read my full sizing guide on Mango here. This jacket is super oversized though, so if you are in-between sizes, I’d size down.
