Leather pants are most definitely not a new trend happening. They’re a timeless style that has been around for years now. But they definitely ebb and flow in popularity. Right now, they seem to be everywhere. They’re feeling a lot more fashion-forward and trendy than the more elegant and elevated versions of years past. This makes them more accessible and also makes them easier to style for day-to-day as well. I know leather pants can feel a bit intimidating. But trust me, you can do it. And if you’ve been wearing faux leather leggings at all these last few years, this is an easy transition and honestly, a more flattering fit than skin tight leggings! Here’s a roundup of how to style faux leather pants to create fashionable, comfortable, trendy and even classic outfits.
How To Style Faux Leather Pants
Dressed Down Brown Wide Leg Faux Leather Pants
For a wide leg trouser style like this, I dressed them down super easily. All you need is some chunky sneakers (I went with my Reeboks) and a fitted tank. To top it off with a third piece to complete the look, an oversized denim jacket. This look is great for an easy casual weekend outfit, a travel outfit, or to grab lunch with a friend.
Leather Pants With Chunky Sneakers And A Graphic Tee
I think this is going to be a favorite combo of mine. These clasic black leather straight leg pants are so so easy to style. Super versatile. For a casual cool look, chunky dad sneakers like my Adidas and a graphic concert tee. That’s all you need. This is a great outfit to wear to lunch, out exploring, or to a casual dinner. Just throw on a denim jacket or blazer to complete the look.
Brown Leather Wide Leg Pants With A Blazer
I love these wide leg trousers paired with a blazer. The lilac and brown color combination is so good too. This look is great for a date night or even if you worked in a fashion forward office. I’d wear this early fall with the linen, or swap for a non-linen blazer later into the season.
Leather Leggings With Booties And A Moto Jacket
A really easy and super comfortable outfit that feels put together. Faux leather leggings paired with a slightly oversized sweater and a moto jacket. Adding booties makes it feel a bit more dressed up instead of a sneaker. Could even do this with a lug sole knee high boot for a more edgy look to it. I’d wear this out to dinner, or even to lunch with friends.
Kick Crop Leather Pants With A Graphic Sweatshirt
For the ultimate casual take on faux leather pants, add a graphic sweatshirt for fall. This can also be layered under a blazer or long coat for winter. The graphic sweatshirt paired with chunky sneakers is exactly how I’d style my favorite straight leg denim for fall. Swapping for faux leather instead just feels 100 times cooler with a bit of edge to it. PS this graphic sweatshirt is a vintage find from Red Vintage Co.
Textured Leather Pants With Leopard Heels And An Oversized Sweater
I have been loving this outfit for a while and just adore the combination of leopard. These leather pants are like a croc-embossed and add some cool texture to the look. Pair a straight leg or kick crop leather pant with a low leopard heel and a simple slightly oversized sweater. This look is great for a more fashion forward office, or date night if you swap your bag for a clutch!
Faux Leather Leggings With A Long Cardigan
A good long cardigan is perfect to pair with faux leather leggings. Add a high heel for a more elevated and put together look instead of a boot or sneaker. This would be a great outfit to wear out with friends for dinner or drinks. The key here is a chunkier and longer cardigan to make it feel more up to date versus a lighter and mid lenght one.
Leather Bootcut Pants With A Camel Blazer
For a more refined and classic look with leather pants, try a boot cut or straight leg fit that’s a bit longer to elongate your legs. Add a black pump and a camel blazer. This look is great for date night, or even to the office. The relaxed white tee paired with it all makes it feel cool, but still elevated.
Leather Leggings With An Oversized Sweater
This is just a great staple to have on deck for easy, comfortable fall outfits. I gravitate towards this when I want to be put together, but comfortable. A big oversized sweater with faux leather Commando leggings and combat boots. I would also try a lug sole knee high boot like this as well for an even more up to date version of this outfit. You can also swap the oversized sweater for an oversized button down shirt. I recently did this and loved the combination! My general rule is just to try to cover most of your butt.
Leather Pants With A Party Top
To dress up faux leather pants for the holidays, a special occasion, or maybe jus t fun night out with the girls, try this combination. A fun going out top, feathers are a plus, and a sexy stiletto. I love these leopard pumps to add a bit of something to the all black outfit. The key here is to pair your pants with a really fun top. Try something with feathers, big sequins, whatever! The more fabulous, the better.
Best Faux Leather Pants
When shopping for a pair of faux leather pants, or even real leather ones, keep an eye out for how to care for them. Many can not be washed at all and must either be spot cleaned or dry cleaned only. Many are definitely not going to be machine washable so keep that in mind when shopping.
BLANKNYC Baxter Rib Cage Faux Leather Pants
These are seriously so good, so flattering and insanely comfortable. They are buttery soft too and almost fleece lined on the inside. The fit is a perfect slightly cropped length and are super easy to style in many ways. These also come in a cognac color.
Open Edit Faux Leather Wide Leg Pants
These feel like heaven. Just loose, comfy pants. I love them. These are the brown ones I am wearing above and they also come in black. Dress them up or down!
SPANX Faux Leather Leggings
In my opinion, these are a must to have in your closet. Love to wear them with Dr Martens and a chunky sweater. I also love these for their power waistband that just kind of sucks you in but not so much that it’s uncomfortable. These are truly comfy and can be worn all day!
AGOLDE ’90s Pinch Waist Recycled Leather High Waist Pants
Everyone raves about the AGOLDE 90’s pinch waist high rise denim. These are the recycled leather version and are a good straight leg style. Pair with heels or booties. And even sneakers if you want to! While these aren’t faux, they are recycled leather!
Good American Faux Leather Wide Leg Pants
Yes, these are just like the Open Edit ones which are more than half the price. But these are probably a bit better quality. They also come in black as well but I am loving this nude color.
PAIGE Stella Super High Waist Straight Leg Faux Leather Jeans
If you’re looking for a bit of a splurge, these are a great style from PAIGE. Loving the beautiful shade of brown which is truly super versatile. Pair with black, or other brown neutrals.
Madewell The Perfect Vintage Straight Jean: Faux Leather Edition
You all know I LOVE my perfect vintage straight jeans from Madewell. And yes, these are just as good. The fit is the same and they feel very high quality for the price. I’d take your larger size in Madewell though for these as I found the waist didn’t have much give to it. Comes in a few colors too.
Commando Faux Leather Leggings
I did a big comparison of these to the SPANX faux leather leggings here. They definitely look more like real leather, but I find the SPANX ones to be more comfortable. Still a solid choice and better looking leggings with a high shine to them. I’d suggest sizing up as they run a tad small.
Good American BETTER THAN LEATHER GOOD ICON PANTS
I tried these on when deciding between the BLANK NYC ones. Personally liked the BLANK ones better, but these are quite similar. These do come in way more colors like hot pink, and a much larger size range than any of the other brands listed here.
